VQ Series Discussion thread

Welcome back Whipmeister. Glad you will be joining us for Fun and Frolics in SGOTM4.

Sadly der Punkt appears indeed to have become a full-stop...

Um...

Howdy :)

So, I totally disappear one day... am not seen nor heard from in months. Then one day I just happen to pop in the old discussion thread.

Can someone who was "full stop" for so long, start up again?

Depends... Are you still willing to destroy any Nara at any time and in any place?

I so swear... to raze any Nara I may see.

I'd love to jump in at the end of the roster for the SGOTM... if you don't think you're too full?

I don't think we're too full. Especially because my experience in this last SGOTM is that folks can mysteriously drop off and so having a few more folks playing means you can still end the game with enough.

:p

Welcome back Maquis. Funny I was reading the beginning of this thread and was actually wondering where the old team was?

Nice to have you in on this SGOTM04. Although I think we played SGOTM03 quite well we just didn't get the diplo together very well. Oddly enough in the beginning of this thread it was even stated VQ not good at diplo more a warmonger bunch.

Is the Succession Game forum dying? I remember when there used to be nothing but fresh games on the front page. And where's Team VQ in all of this??!? MIA!

Tsk Tsk.

Some of us are tied up in the SGOTM and I'm guilty of only checking subscribed threads for updates! I should be better about checking the SG forum and if it goes cold getting my own out there.

Realms Beyond is currently doing an interesting SG that's open to everyone RB 30 I believe is the number.

Of course ChrTh you could start up your own....

Considering I eBayed my copy of the game, I don't see that happening. :mischief:

On the plus side, now that they've announced the second expansion, we're closer to seeing Complete released and my hiatus ending ... maybe :xmascheers: ?

Just a brief message from the . :

I'm still alive and still without web-access. But I hope that this will be fixed before ChrTh (nice to read you again) is back from Hiatus. Waaaaaaaaaay before - hopefully. Oh, and welcome back Maquis. I hope you've had a decent honeymoon, namliaM. :mischief: Now - maybe I should've put a couple of blanks between the last two sentences? :p

Seriously, Scowler, the dot hasn't become a full-stop. It's just a sign of interpunction. I hope to be back more frequently (proper english?) within the next fortnight. Meanwhile ...

A Good² Friday to you and ... Happy Easter. :mischief:

Regards to all, .

Hey, a message from the . :)

Say folks I have been toying with this idea...
Over expansion is bad right? Everyone knows this or so we think...
The point of this game is... We can run 100% science as long as we can sustain it from the start. Once we have to drop the slider, it is dropped PERMENANTLY.
I.e. if at some point we have to drop to 30% science, that is where the slider stays.
However in this variant we can pre-emptivly (spelling?) drop the slider... I.e. we can go from 80% to 70% on our own account, but we cannot slide it upwards.

As an alternative ... Once we have to drop the slider, it has to drop to 50% no inbetweens, just drop it to 50% and it HAS to stay there all game after dropping from 100%. If we have to re-adjust the slider to say 40 for lack of cash, it is considered to be a loss.

The first is a little easier than the second, any ideas? Any takers?

Nice to hear from ChrTh and Dot too.

As to playing an SG I'll have to pass as I'm moving this month and a lot to do. Sounds interesting though good luck.

I have not missed any VQ-SG, and am not going to start ... :) Sounds like a good variant, namliaM. But I like the first one better. And why should dropping to 0% constitute a lost? This is one good variant setting for us to be practicing specialist-based economy.

Great to know you will be joining us shortly, dot.

practicing specialist-based economy.
Hmz, I hadnt thought of that one... goes to show how well versed I am in SE...
I was actually thinking of a plain old Cottage economy, except with (much) more use for Markets and banks. Also growing ~2 times our "normal" size to just plain make up for the lower slider. But a plain old SE/FE practice would be good too...

I think that will be the goal of this SG.
VQ10 - A farming we will go.
SE practice game. Plus we cannot touch the sliders?? Or ??
VQ11 - Merchandizing
Living large of the Great Merchant (See ALC 14)
VQ12 - The sliders
We need a bunch of 9 !!! (maybe 6 dedicated would work too) people for this one, sliding from world to world. We play 3 seperate saves at the same time, with players 1, 4 and 7 playing the first set and moving along to 2, 5 and 8. It is going to be some puzzle I think... I dont know about actually setting up different goals too...
Game 1: Space,
Game 2: Diplo,
Game 3: Domination/Conquest??

Hey about an alpha centauri SG..... just kidding

VQ12 - The sliders

How would you envision this SG?? Also is this based on the bad Canadian produced series sliders as I like the concept but the show blew chunks.

Something like the Quantum monkees??
