That monarch game Cyrus was huge (don't have the saves anymore only older save) so he had to be 1st in power. Also Team alpha Scowler's example of him as England (1 or 2 cities) signed a PA with MM in 1st position most likely 1st in power too. In my monarch game Cyrus was so far ahead of everyone but yet I still got a PA with him. (tried every turn too)
My point about not attacking JC is for several reasons.
1. Not to break DP with Cyrus. If we can get him to war against JC also than we still would have mutual struggle.
2. JC would be on our side with UN down the road.
3. Once we accomplish PA then we can consider war against JC.
I realize too overseas campaigns take a lot of planning and can be difficult it's just I like naval campaigns. That's the Dutch in me, a seafarer at heart.
@Eektor--on the first campaign against KK we had to stop because of WW (brothers/sisters of the faith). So if religion were still there we have the same difficulty going against JC. It would damage our relationship with Cyrus (attack on a friend) and break the DP which might make it difficult to get a PA with him. (In my monarch game Cyrus was friendly with me too which at 1650ad he is only pleased. We need to change that maybe)
We all seem agreed on PA although some don't like it. Maquis shouldn't have enabled it but he did. It's team alpha's strategy at this point. We are much bigger and with Cyrus will be very close to either domination/diplomatic win. Team A even with KK will not have enough to win. They will have to build UN and get enough votes. We can try to beeline for Mass media after PA and get to UN and who knows with JC may have enough votes.
EDIT: Here are the domination stats:
With Cyrus we have 31% of required 44% world population
With Cyrus we have 40% of required 64% land mass.
With JC's land mass there isn't enough for domination win so we would need another civ's land like Monty. At this point diplomatic seems the best and most early option. (all very dependent on PA of course) Cyrus (at 1650) has Sci Meth so he isn't too far away from communism.
