VQ06b - Emperor just win!

That monarch game Cyrus was huge (don't have the saves anymore only older save) so he had to be 1st in power. Also Team alpha Scowler's example of him as England (1 or 2 cities) signed a PA with MM in 1st position most likely 1st in power too. In my monarch game Cyrus was so far ahead of everyone but yet I still got a PA with him. (tried every turn too)

My point about not attacking JC is for several reasons.

1. Not to break DP with Cyrus. If we can get him to war against JC also than we still would have mutual struggle.
2. JC would be on our side with UN down the road.
3. Once we accomplish PA then we can consider war against JC.

I realize too overseas campaigns take a lot of planning and can be difficult it's just I like naval campaigns. That's the Dutch in me, a seafarer at heart.

@Eektor--on the first campaign against KK we had to stop because of WW (brothers/sisters of the faith). So if religion were still there we have the same difficulty going against JC. It would damage our relationship with Cyrus (attack on a friend) and break the DP which might make it difficult to get a PA with him. (In my monarch game Cyrus was friendly with me too which at 1650ad he is only pleased. We need to change that maybe)

We all seem agreed on PA although some don't like it. Maquis shouldn't have enabled it but he did. It's team alpha's strategy at this point. We are much bigger and with Cyrus will be very close to either domination/diplomatic win. Team A even with KK will not have enough to win. They will have to build UN and get enough votes. We can try to beeline for Mass media after PA and get to UN and who knows with JC may have enough votes.

EDIT: Here are the domination stats:

With Cyrus we have 31% of required 44% world population
With Cyrus we have 40% of required 64% land mass.

With JC's land mass there isn't enough for domination win so we would need another civ's land like Monty. At this point diplomatic seems the best and most early option. (all very dependent on PA of course) Cyrus (at 1650) has Sci Meth so he isn't too far away from communism.

Jul 02, 2006, 10:07 PM "I got it"
Jul 04, 2006, 12:50 PM skip me..

You should be skipped anyways since it has almost been 48 hours.(ok not quite 10 hours to go) I take it we are going by standard SG rules. So that makes Eektor up.

-- GreyFox == Warmonger at heart good old blood and guts
-- namliaM == Will be able to exercise the builder at heart
-- armstrong == skip busy with independence day...(watch out for the aliens)
-- eektor == UP==wants that JC attacked
-- cosmichail == on deck == PA, PA == diplomatic..

Happy independence day to our American players. We just had our "Canada day" July 1st.....

Old space time continium is out of control we are stuck in the 17th century forever. Team A will be in the 20th century soon at the rate they are going. We are still at 1650ad and they are in 1820ad. That 170 years ahead of us nearing a PA. Good thing you can only have one PA.

Well I think we might be finishing over 100 years earlier than Team A :D

Anyways, I got it. My computer is running slow hopefully its nothing really bad. I'll try to play tonight or tomorrow, but I'll let you know if my computer has problems and won't be able to play soon.

This is my got it post.

Well I think we might be finishing over 100 years earlier than Team A

so true.....

Well, I finally got rid of a virus on my computer and got some spyware out. So my computer is running better now. It's a little late for me to play, so if someone wants to swap with me go ahead. I can play tomorrow evening 21 hours from now.

Oh the only reason why I really wanted JC out of the way, was my last game I was playing a nice peaceful game, he was pleased with me and he still attacked me anyways and now I don't trust him :) It seems like once he gets a higher rating in the power graph he will attack you.

Eektor I can play 12 hours from now (tomorrow morning) It's kind of late to do it now but if you want I can do it tomorrow morning and then you tomorrow night to move things along. If you want it doesn't matter to me.

BTW that JC is terrible that way. It would be nice to have that irritating schmuck out of the way. We aren't far off for a PA (hopefully Cyrus will like us enough) maybe then just for something to do.

Comsic, play if you can. I think EEktor has said you should play if you can play before he does (20hrs from now).

Let's just get to the point of PA and decide where to go from there. Depending on our combined population and land count, we could go domination, conquest, diplo or even space. All options are viable, except cultural.

EDIT: heh, cross post with Eektor. :)

Ok I will play and post tomorrow morning so will be done before noon. (eastern daylight) July 5th.

PS I just come across that situation where a civ is in the first position/power too and say's we're just fine on our own. So we just have to see what we have to do. Cyrus going into DP says he is willing. The civ I approached in SP wasn't even interested in DP. Thing is he isn't even that far ahead. So it depends on the situation as I think each is unique.

Turn 0

Call JC doesn’t want to trade.
Call Cyrus doesn’t want to trade (we don’t have anything) and he fears we are becoming too advanced. JC too. MM will give us liberalism for Chemistry but decline for now. HC has it already. Monty annoyed again and decide not to trade with him for the sake of the PA.

Civ4ScreenShot0243.jpg

Turn 1

HC adopts Vassalage, theocracy, and emancipation. Workers start farm near Turfan. Move caravels.

Turn 2

JC cancels deals with us?? Paris finishes Pike start Grenadier. We have a GS in Paris will give us part of Sci Meth. Chills finishes Cat starting Pike queued. Move caravels.

Civ4ScreenShot0244.jpg

Turn 3

Cyrus asks us to cancel deals with Monty and comply for sake of the PA. Doesn’t bring us to friendly but our negative for trading is only -1.
HC is going to attack MM soon. Monty cancels deals too. (mmmm) Get ceasar to buy fish again at 6 gold.

Civ4ScreenShot0245.jpg

Turn 4

Corney hills builds musketeer starts mace. Ok we need gpt so stop building units for now. Science has to be lowered to 60%.

Turn 5

CH builds mace start University. CC finishes cat start university. Besh has nothing to build so put on wealth for now. We should save Oxford for this city. Okinawa finish War Oliphant start market. Karakorum finishes mace start library.

Turn 6

Trade cow for spices with MM (he is friendly with Cyrus so trading with him is fine.) I decide to trade Chemistry for Liberalism and put it to some use. It improves our relationship to “cautious” now. Don’t go to Free religion to keep brothers/sisters with Cyrus. Workers are all sleeping in Turfan nothing to do.

Civ4ScreenShot0246.jpg

Civ4ScreenShot0247.jpg

Turn 7

Ok Cryus asks us to stop trading with Monty which we aren’t so it was just a reminder. We are still trading with HC but Cyrus says nothing about that. No PA available yet. We discover steel. All techs available Cyrus/all already have. Go for banking only 2 turns. Paris builds Grenadier put to wealth for now. I ask MM what he will trade since everybody has steel and he offers Nationalism/banking/Worldmap/20 gold and accept.
Sell MM deer for 6 gold. Ok I go for economics to get free market.

Civ4ScreenShot0248.jpg

Civ4ScreenShot0249a.jpg

Civ4ScreenShot0250.jpg

Turn 8

Monty is right on our border. Not that far away. Ok JC doesn’t want to part with horses anymore. Start bank in Paris/Besh.

Turn 9

New Sarai finishes Buddhist monastery start Buddhist Stupa for culture expansion. HC declared war on MM so if he takes cities he will rise in power/score standing. He might be no 1 in power as he built up his troops from Turn 1.

Turn 10

Move caravels. Ask MM to trade for horses for iron and he accepts. Don’t know how long he will hold out but with iron he might fare better.

Current save

Well this is a got it and I will play in 5 hours.

Nice set of builder turns Cosmichail. Although I don't like how far behind we are getting in tech. If we don't get a PA we will definitely be in trouble.

From what I can see from your report, the only civ we can't trade or make deals with is Monty or we hurt our relationship with Cyrus? Cyrus is friendly with everyone else?

I think he is cautious with HC though. He didn't ask to cancel any deals since we got a good wine deal going there. Yes a lot is contingent on PA and i think if we can gift something to Cryus we should as we need to get friendly with him. Cyrus is friendly with MM (at least MM is not sure about Cyrus think it's pleased) so he can't be too happy with HC declaring war.

Now that Monty is so close to us maybe astronomy soon and do something about him to get those extra votes. (if we need them)

We should have a backup plan too should PA fail.

Well pretty much a quiet builder turnset ... until I declared war on JC ... just kidding :D

Turn 0: 1690 AD:

HC and Cyrus are furious with each other. Since we are going for PA, I canceled deals with HC.

We have a great scientist and only on academy (in Ning-hsia). Since we are in bureaucracy I decided to put the academy in Paris to bump up science.

Turn 1: 1695 AD:
Karakoam: Library -> Aqueduct

Turn 2: 1700 AD:
MM canceled Iron for Horse (this happened because Gao had the extra horse next to it)
HC captured Gao

Turn 3: 1705 AD:
MM canceled the spices for cow deal (cows were near Gao too)
Economics -> Constitution (so we can revolt to Representation for added + with Cyrus)
Cunan: Library -> Courthouse
JC completed Statue of Liberty
Revolted to Free Market

Most Powerful.JPG

Cyrus is till the most powerful

Turn 5: 1715 AD:
Paris: Bank -> Aqueduct
Old Sarai: Lighthouse -> Harbor

Turn 6: 1720 AD:
Karakoam: Aqueduct -> Market
Ning-hsia: Temple -> Library

Turn 7: 1725 AD:
MM canceled corn for clam (uggh our cities are becoming unhealthy)
CH: University -> Aqueduct
Tabriz: Courthouse -> Harbor

Turn 8: 1730 AD:
HC asks to declare war on MM – I say no.

Turn 9: 1735 AD:
Paris: Aqueduct -> Grenadier
Okinawa: Market -> Aqueduct

Turn 10: 1740 AD:
Constitution -> Corporation (feel free to change this – I figured the extra trade route will be good)
Besh: Bank -> Aqueduct

After turn comments:
Let’s put the Forbidden Palace in Karakoam.

Cyrus is friendly now.

Our cities are unhealthy. We lost two health resources when MM canceled the trades. They mostly had to do with the war than MM not being happy with us. We are close to getting the sugar near Ning-hsia which would give us 1 health if we have a grocer in the city.

Edit: save is kind of big going to work on getting that up now

Edit2: Save

Too bad about losing those trades with MM but war is like that. We might be still trading that wheat for 13gpt with Cyrus which maybe we should cancel and give him ivory instead since we have lots of happiness.

-- GreyFox == UP==Warmonger at heart good old blood and guts
-- namliaM == on deck==Will be able to exercise the builder at heart
-- armstrong == skip busy with independence day...(watch out for the aliens)
-- eektor == just played==wants that JC attacked
-- cosmichail ==just played== PA, PA == diplomatic..

Eektor something is wrong with the save cannot download, maybe not the right link....

Here is the current save with correct link

Eektor the link you put in the hyperlink is incorrect it should be: "http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads12/VQ06b_AD-1740.Civ4SavedGame"

When you click on it, it's adding some percentage sign and something else which send it to the "not connected" Page.

Nice turns, eektor, ... hmm we don't have constitution yet ... okay, :goodjob: going for that, we need it to prevent Cyrus from dropping back to please at the crucial moment. Did you revolt to representation in your last turn?

Does Cyrus has Communism yet? We are nearing the timespan (so its 20, 30 or 40 turns? :crazyeye:)

EDIT: Typing too slow ... below are all moot/wrong/kind-of-silly-in-retrospect/stupid/{insert-your-own-adjective-here}.

RE the big save, you can use the "Up-Load File" option under Quick Links, load it to folder12, view the folder, right click on the file, copy link location, and paste it back into your post.

Roster

-- GreyFox == On-Deck
-- namliaM
-- armstrong == skipped
-- eektor == Just Played
-- cosmichail == UP

Me and Cosmichail swapped so you're up GreyFox.

I didn't revolt to Representation so you can revolt at the start of your turn.

If the PA options is seen in the Diplomacy screen with communism, then he doesn't have it yet.

I believe we are at 20 turns with the DP right now.

Thanks for the help with the save, I remembered having to do it once before so I'm not used to it.

Edit: Oops I didn't put the underscore for the save file

Sorry about that Greyfox I type like 80-90wpm. So I filled in my own adjective. LOL.......
