VS1-Agression

I can play it now, so I'll do that now.

Pre-Turn: The only way we can expand peacefully is into the southwest, into desert. I don't really like the look of that, so I would say we declare war with the celt's, and expand into the grassland they control. I'm going to attempt this set of turns to build up a military presences and to get our nation ready for war.

Turn 1:
Nothing really of interest, moved a worker to the woods south of Utica, to road there, for our troops have quicker access to the celtic lands.

Turn 2:
Carthage finish's settler, starts on archer. Settler moves to take the incense west of hippo.
Hippo is founded.
It doesn't look like the Celts have Iron, but there is a big black spot in the middle of there terrority, so I wouldn't bet any money on it.
We are now losing -5gpt instead of -9gpt!!!

Turn 3:
Iroquois demanded Mathematics, I refuse. Iroquois declares war. This should be no problem, as the Iroquois aren't a neighboring civilization, and I don't think they will become a road block in our expansion progress. Nonetheless, we can expect them in an average of 16-24 turns. Most likely along Hippo, or our new cities bordors.

Turn 4 :
Our archers to attack Gergovi is in place, just waiting on an decent sized army to be built up.

Turn 5:
Carthage complete's archer, starts on archer.
Change Utica from barracks to archer, we don't have iron, so upgrading units will be no problem, and I'd prefer not to take the maintance penality.

Turn 6:
Utica complete's archer, starts on archer.
Leptis Magna complete's archer, starts on archer.

Turn 7:
It seems the celts are at war with the Japanese, even if they make peace by time we attack, they would still be considerable weakened.

Turn 8:
Carthage complete's archer, starts on archer.
Hippo is now connected to our road network.
Leptis Minor is founded.

Turn 9:
We need to start mining some of the tiles around our four main cities, we can greatly enhance our production, and get more achers out on the field sooner.

Turn 10:
Scandavia demands 35g, it's not much, so I cave in.
Leptis Magna completes archer, starts on archer.

and that would be back to WF...............

Lets skip him, it's been 3 days now.

I told him in the chat last night that it was on him, he said he'd play early today if he could.

At least give him till tonight.

Got it.

Sorry guys, didn't get a chance to finish this one yet. You can either skip me or I'll finish my turns after work.

Sorry for the delay guys.

Flight Check: Wow, sure is crowded! We’re at war with the Iroquois but don’t see them.
Our tiny plot of land is barren, and unimproved. We need more workers(we have 2).

Everyone except Biz are up multiple techs on us.

Change Leptis Minor & Hippo to Cats.
Change Leptis Magna, Utica, & Carthage to workers.

IT- Carth: worker>worker
Utica: worker>Numid

Iroquios warrior shows up to the south, 2 turns from our undefended Lep Minor. He’ll talk but wants our city.

1- Military units are on go-to?? During war? In the opposite direction?!? :wallbash:
Start sending troops towards Leptis Minor, Operation Stare at Celts & Fortify is put on the back burner.

IT- Leptis Magna: worker>worker (should almost be up to par now)
Theveste: temple>worker

Kyoto completes Temple of Artemis.

2- Horse kills warrior threatening Lep Minor.
Leave a few archers in the north, in case of sneak attack, send the rest of the stack south.

IT-Carthage: worker>settler
Looks like Celts are at war with Japan, spotted a SoD heading north.
Incans start the Great Lib.

3- Buy Lit off them for 220g.
Trade Lit too Abe for Phil & 71g.
Give Biz Lit 3gpt, & 127g for Code.
Trade Lit & Code with Alex for MMing & 149g.
Trade Lit & Code with Theo for Poly, 81g, & worker.
Sell Lit to Vikings for 146g.
Sell Lit to Portugal for 75g.

Give Lit to Hiawa for Peace & 24g. (Fighting a war with him when he can get through America’s land, and we can’t isn’t getting us anywhere except a border to defend.)

We’re at parity with everyone or above on a couple broke people.
Meet the Hittites, who are way behind, but only have 24g.

Start on Monarchy at min research.

The tenitive plan is to attack the Celts, take Canulodunam & Alesia, burn Gergovia, and then make peace. Then turn on America for the Iron. It will never work out like that though.

IT- Leptis Magna: worker>barracks
Theveste: worker>Cat

Vikings, Greeks, Germans, & Portuguese start GL.

Oh yea- The Celts are defiantly at war with Japan![dance]

4- Start positioning troops to my liking.

IT- America, Biz & Russians start GL.

5- Continue watching Celts flock to the north, that’s right leave your cities undefended for me.

IT- Carthage: settler>barracks
YES!! Finally I can turn our lux down from that ungodly 20%, incense should be hooked up in 2.
Meet Spain, down Code & has 10g.

6-

IT- I can’t figure out what everyone has against barracks in a max aggression game, not one city has a barracks built in it.
Theveste: cat>Numid

7- Incense is hooked up. Much rejoicing throughout our nation, lux turned off.
Pop a barb hut for 25g.

Germany has a monopoly on Construction,(also has like 800g).

Show time! Even though our military advisor rants about it being suicide & how weak our military is compared to Bren’s, we declare war on the Celts & start moving in troops. (Our only downfall might be that we have 0 veteran units.)

Arch kills spear, -2hp.
Arch kills spear, promotes to Vet & burns Gergovia to the ground.
Arch dies redlining a Celt Arch. (I hate regular units!!)
Arch kills red archer flawlessly.

IT- Horse killed by Gallic.
Utica: Numid>Numid

8- Horse kills spear in Camulodunem, -2hp.
Archer is killed redlining spear, which promotes.
Archer kills wounded spear, leaves it protected by only an archer. Too bad we’re out of units to attack with.

Archer killed attacking Alesia, -2hp to spear.
Archer kills spear in Alesia, revealing the one we just wounded. :D

IT- Celt galley shows up.

9- Waiting for troops to heal.
Kill 2 spears with archers.

IT- Celts actually move units towards us in a counter attack.
Hippo: Cat>Cat
Archer kills an archer outside Camulodunum.

IT-Carthage: Bar>Archer
L.Mag: Bar>Horse

10- Build embassy in Kyoto, building a sword. Nothing notable about the city.
They’re still at war with the Celts. Good!
Kill of another Spear in Alesai, left with only a wounded one from our cat attack
Give Hitities Lit for 79g.
Noone has broken up Biz’s monopoly on Const yet, Japan has a monopoly on currency(but is down Lit & Code).

**End o Turn Report**
*There’s a settler in Carthage, waiting for either Camulodunem or Alesia to be razed.
*Scientist in Leptis Magna for a couple turns to control happiness. Warrior is outside the city for MP duty next turn.
*Keep in mind that archers now have defensive bombardment, they’re perfect to leave healing in a stack in your territory to help out against counter-attacks.

Good luck!!

IBT. Somewhat strange warfare to my taste. Are we ready for the Golden Age? Then, what are these NM doing on the front lines? Aha, nobody will attack them making a good cover for cats. And why so many archers? They are less expensive. We have horses, they are not much better against the Celtic swords but Brennus builds swords mostly for offense and horses are still a way better against spears. Changed all builds to horses. And where do these Celts get iron from? And why we have so few cities? Within our borders, there is a room for at least 6 more towns. And worker mining game after the forest was chopped? Is it Sid, AW, 6CC? Well, enough complaining, lets attack. Celts move forward to Utica. Theveste horse->horse.

[1] 825BC. Kill warrior with regular archer. Kill sword with another and archer with the third. Advancing to Alesia feeling thirsty for some fine Carthaginian wine. These Celts can make only ale and don’t need wines at all. Brennus actually ready to talk peace, we can even get a city from him. Not yet.
IBT. Lost archer to archer. Utica NM->settler, L.Minor cat-> settler. Celts complete SoZ!. Good grief. Just have to come to Entremont and get it.

[2] 800BC. Lose two archers to archer (I hate archers). Our glorious horse is victorious and we capture Alesia. Moving settler to get wines connected next turn. Will build temple for now. Sailed to Hittite core finally. Their warriors are wondering on the opposite site of the map. Cat will stay in L. minor just in case.
IBT. Lost archer to archer. Indeed a useless unit.

[3] 775BC. Sabratha founded bringing wines to our core. Let’s celebrate and get drunk! Theveste can go to +5fpt after all and therefore will build granary and become nice 4-turn settler factory after all forests are gone. Better later than never.
IBT. Lost horse to archer. That hurts. Carthage horse->settler.

[4] 750BC. Moving to get the infamous statue. Actually, our military is pathetic. Single horse, 2 cats, 3 NM and archer.
IBT. NM retreats a horse, no GA. L. Magna horse->horse.

[5] 730BC. Starting the glorious siege of Entremont. Can take peace anytime now but want the statue. Many civs have Currency. Japan, Germany, and Portugal have Construction. Portugal does not have Currency but prices are really high. Better wait a bit.
IBT. Gallic sword does not want to retreat from our NM and we have Golden Age. It is bad because of Despotism but good because might help us for another war. Massive barbarian uprising occurs in absolutely empty region in the middle of the continent. Map is very weird indeed. Our area is so dense, there is no breathing space. And there, nobody as far as anyone can see. Utica horse->horse. Celts make peace to Japan!

[6] 710BC. Still advancing to Entremont. Tech deals are brutal. No way for brokering.
IBT. Lost a horse to archer and killed a horse. Carthage settler->horse.

[7] 690BC. Killed archer and warrior. Cats arrived at the walls of Entremont. Celts are almost toast, we can get 2 cities for peace now. Probably we cannot hammer them down before reinforcements from Japanese front will arrive. Just not enough units. Take peace for 2 cities. One is decent, another is junk but we just want to weaken these Celts and come back in 20 turns.
IBT. Russia comes and asks for 63g. They are on the other end of the map. We don’t pay and they declare war. Besides, if we pay to everyone, we’ll be broke soon. It is maximal aggression after all. The more we pay, the more they come and ask. Brennus comes and we trade CoL for ivory+80g. Theveste granary->settler,

[8] 670BC. Everything is calm. Just curious, how many spears were in Entremont. Established embassy there for 35g. Good grief, 12 spears (4 regular other veteran).
IBT Now comes Bismark and demands 68g. He’s also far away. Another war. It is bad to be small and weak. Alesia cat->cat.

[9] 650BC. Rusicade founded and builds warrior for MP.
IBT. Now comes Henry and asks for 71g. This is scary and we pay because he is very close. We’ll meet later, Henry. Spain joined Germany in an attempt to defeat us. Carthage horse->settler, Rusicade warrior->barracks.

[10] Did not do mm and did not check diplo this turn. Feels like either Monarchy or Republic is on the way. We have 2 settler factories in Theveste (4-turn) and Carthage (5-turn). With our luxuries, both cities can be kept at size 6 easily without rioting. So, please, make sure they make settler on the turn they grow from size 6 to size 7. Besides, it’s GA. We now have 11 cities and can pump some barracks and horses. Even a temple or two in the core to get rid of some MP. There are many units in Alesia which is likely to flip. Better move them out, abandon city and rebuild with a settler. The game is starting to get interesting. With NM we can probably last to cavalry which is not that far away IMHO.
