HI guys,
I am currently trying to set up a new GMR game based on a custon scenario (i made it myself). I create the game through a single player mod game, I save it then. after, I create a new GMR bamefor scenario and I upload the saved file. I have a message saying : "Game creation error. If you were creating a Scenario, please make sure to select the right game."
Idk what went wrong.
The save file is in normal save game, not mods one. And it is not a ".civ5game" but a "Civ5save" file. Can you help me on this ?
Thanks a lot !
There are three types of games to be created from the GMR website, Vanilla, G&K and scenario, you need to click the right type before uploading your initial turn.
I created several offical scenario games in GMR, they all have the '.civ5save' file. which can be found from /Documents/My Games/Sid..../ModdedSaves/single
The following is from GMR website quotes if you didn't read it through.
Spoiler :"
Creating your mod game in GMR
In the My Games page, click the button that says Create a new game. This will display a dialog with a few game options. From here, simply select the type of game that you'd like to create.
The Basic Mod type is for modded games which add to the base game, but do not replace any of the base game civilizations.
The Total Mod type is for modded games which replace base game civilizations. Selecting this means that all players in your game will show as "Unknown" on GMR.
The Scenario type is for games that have already been setup, which includes actual scenarios or existing games. For the Scenario type, you'll need to upload the initial save file before creating the game. GMR will then setup the game for you with the appropriate players and civilizations.
Once you've created your game, be sure to communicate which mods it uses. The game comments are a good way to do this. All players in your game will need to install the mods you're using.
Creating your mod game in Civ V
Before creating your mod game in Civ V, make sure to disable any DLC you aren't using – this is especially important if you're creating a vanilla Civ V game and have Gods and Kings installed. To do this, select the DLC menu option in the main menu. Then, select Mods. Upon entering this menu, Civ V will update or download any pending DLC you have subscribed to in Steam Workshop. Once this is complete, select the mods you wish to use and click Next.
From here, the mod setup can vary depending on the mod. Most of the time, you'll select Single Player Game and then Set Up Game. Sometimes, especially for scenarios or custom maps, you may need to select Custom Game or use special settings in your game setup. Check with the mod's page on Steam Workshop for instructions on using a specific mod.
Alternatively, for official scenarios, you can select Single Player from the main menu then select Scenario.
Submitting the first save
For all mod and scenario games, you'll need to give GMR the save file to turn it into a hotseat game and setup the other human players. For Basic and Total Mods, this will occur after you start the game. For Scenarios, this will occur when you create the game.
For the first turn, you'll need to save the game and submit it before clicking next turn. You'll find instructions on where to find your save file on the Game Details page. After submitting this turn, it will still be your turn. GMR will give you back the save file, and you'll need to load it from the hotseat menu and play it normally.
From this point on, the game will play like all other GMR games."
Remember to save me a spot in your game![]()
Hey Onan, I just published an update to the GMR client (version 1.0.0.87) that contains a new setting called "Log additional debug info". If you enable this it will write out to the debug log some additional information around downloading save files. Give it a shot and after you've encountered a problem with downloading the save files for some of your games email me the debug_logs.txt and I'll see if I can discern anything from it![]()
Thanks for the reply EEE. I exactly followed the GMR instruction. But As I said, the Game was not saved in Modded save folder, but in the "normal" single player save folder. At the end, the upload in GMR does not work.
My game is a Europe map based on sven's Europe map. But reduced to play with 8 players : 4 teams of 2. All spot are taken by civfr members, sorry. But you can follow the team discussion by registering in civfr.com, but think to learn french before !
Could you describe what step you followed? Which boxes you ticked? I think admin also needs more info before they can pinpoint your problem.
Yes !
3) I launch civ V and I go to mods
4) I did not select any mods, because I want to play a G&K game without mods in this scenario
10) I create a scenario game
Thx in advance for your help !

Woops, only just enabled it. Can you give me a file path, in XP? Thanks.
Sorry it's not working for you Kiffe, it sounds like you are following all the steps correctly. Could you please email me the save file you're trying to use to create the game on GMR? I'll test it out and find out why it's giving you an error. (email: support[at]multiplayerrobot[dot]com)
And thanks for trying to help EEE! You were on the right path, getting additional data for cases like this is always necessary. When we implement badges on the website I'll have to add one for "un-official GMR support" members![]()
Save sent ! Thx a lot Mel !
Alright I think I know why you're getting an error when you try to create the game. Since your scenario uses some of the civilizations from G&K, you need to make sure that you select "Gods and Kings" in the create game dialog on GMR. The default selection is Vanilla Civ, which would cause an error as it tries to validate the civs found in the save file you sent me.
I just successfully created a Scenario game with the save file you sent, by making sure G&K was selected. Good luck and let me know how goes!![]()
Awesome! When you click on your avatar in the GMR client one of the menu items that pops up is "Go to debug logs". That should open Windows Exploile and navigate it to the location of the debug file![]()
Thx it work now(there is just a 9th random civ that appear in GMR, but it is not in game when you launch) It was a hard solution !

Logs (since March!) sent in last night. Not hurrying you, take your time.![]()
Well, i guess since last gmr-patch i got a sound problem with gmr. At the moment i push 'save file', gmr kills the civ5 program, but my sound goes on in wierd continous small echos. no other choice then to re-start the whole computer as power button on sound system does no change to it.
(System could be found here: http://www.mein-pc.eu/Profil/AMD-Gamer-/32862, SoundCard Asus Xonar D2, SoundSystem Creative Inspire T7200)
As for my view, when GMR kills the civ5 programm, there should be a command to kill sound source either. Probably this may be fixed with the next planed patch i've read about, but currently it's difficult for me to stand as i allways have to re-start the machine after doing a GMR turn.
Besides this prob all went well with my vacation mode and checking back!![]()
I'm glad it's working again for you! I've seen or heard of this happening in other Scenario games on GMR. Apparently CiV keeps a "hidden" civ at the end of the list of players. I'll look into it and see if we can have GMR just not load this one.
THX again Mel. Actually, I am facing another problem. It seems that the GMR automatically include DLC for scenario game. Some of players of the game does not have any DLC. Is there a way to remove them ? Does it depends from the player who launch the game ?
Thx again
