Oke i'm very newby for civ 4 and did have a look ad your mod. Like it very much ;) but i'm not that new in 3d art and 2d art.That i do some 5 years now. If you might need some help from that point let me know. I already have exported models to a nif file that can be seen in the viewer. Just as a test. I do not know what you need for models and buildings and more for your mod and what kind of random files you need for it. Animated nif files i have doen as wel as a test. Even that is visible in the viewer. Before this ( i play with civ 4 now 2 weeks) i have made models and charaters for other games and game engines. I work with 3ds max and photshop.

Let me know if you have question or need a helping hand.

This is great! Yeah sure we could use some help! I currently work on this orc but still don't understand this f!§&ing rotation matrix.

that guy needs to bend over and his legs need to be fixed too. If you pm me your mail I'll send the nifs to you.

Do you know how to in/export models in blender by chance? this'll help me too. Well we can use alot of help any help ;)
We could need any model you could provide. Especially siegeworks and the freaky warhammer machines which we definetly can't do on our own. same with the Skaven. but we still need so many many models any others will also be apreciated. Check the GW Store for motives and do whatever you like the most from there:

Yeah ;)
Thank you!

Keep in mind that list represents about 3 years worth of hard work by many people, not the least of which was Embryodead, the originator of the Warhammer Fantasy mod for C3C, boiled down and condensed, with added preservatives for freshness....

Anyways glad I could be of some help, despite the fact that I don't like Civ IV, and the thought of what one has to go through to mod it gives me the raging willies!

Also, how are Wonders and/or city improvement graphics handled in this game? The reason I ask is because I did the GFX for the White Tower and the Oak of Ages in the WH 2.2 mod, and I happen to still have the original Bryce 5 files hanging around, and I could

Well, modding it is getting easier every day..well, not for me, for the graphics guys. I always had it easy :rolleyes: Wonders and Improvements are the same as units, unfortunately, nif files, w/dds skins.

Made the ogre a bit uglier think it's better that way:

it's already uploaded in the unitthreads.
I'll try giving it another more green and grey skin with a few added features as soon rabbit comes with more parts, too. Does anyone have an idea how to get rid of the hair on his head?

Well, modding it is getting easier every day..well, not for me, for the graphics guys. I always had it easy :rolleyes: Wonders and Improvements are the same as units, unfortunately, nif files, w/dds skins.

What about the wondersplashes (i.e. the pic or video? that is shown when you complete a wonder)? I seem to remember hearing that they were .bik format videos, but I don't know anything other than that......

BIK video is a format for a video-file. In reality it's nothing more then a compression methode. Just like wmv file for media player and mp3 for soound file for example. BIK files can only be read with a bik-player. In fact thats all'.
:)

I'd just like to say I'm quite looking forward to this mod. Especially if the mercenaries are hireable as full regiments named after Dogs of War. :)

Right, I have Rad video tools (the program that allows conversion of other formats to and or from BIK), how big are the animations、etc? Maybe I should ask in the main forums....

Mercs are full regiments (ase is everyone else in the game) Lopez is apparently going to work on more specific unit names (I think- see: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=3867829#post3867829)
And when he's done that, I'll change it so that it's warhammer-like names.

Edit: Gaagh!!! :p I just recieved in the mail the new Dwarves book that I ordered and the stupid mail man had folded it in half and stuck it in my mailbox! Brand new $20 book now has a permanent crease... thank you usps...

Idiots are everywhere. Best not to rely on them, because if they can mess up, they will!

J Period, any chance that some of the new units recently posted, cyclops, ogre, new (amazing) chaos knight, will make it into the next mod update??

The problem with that is that I have seperate mod folders for the update that I'm releasing friday, and the one I'm working on for next friday... The one I'm releasing this friday has about 25+ new units (including the griffons, manticores, pegusi, etc), so I don't think you'll be too disapointed.

Or you can sign up to be a beta tester and get access to the newest stuff a week early. :mischief:

@Lord Olleus: Right now, wizard units can hold spell books (like a transport unit), which act like you describe. So long as a wizard is holding it, it can cast a spell once per turn (it's experience is set to 2/2 if it's being carried) This means that wizards that engage in combat will gain experience points. This has a couple problems, though.

1)The wizard doesn't gain experience from casting spells (though maybe you can do up a python thing that makes it so that wizards gain 1 experience every time their cargo casts a spell...or not, because it would be easily abusable- any suggestions?)

2) Wizards can't go on other transports (ships) if they have a spellbook equipped (hence my response in this thread)

3) I don't know how the AI will handle this

But overall, I find it more satisfactory than the other system, since it gives a little more flexability with wizards. But if anyone has any suggestions for improvement...

(BTW Spells won't be released this week, but next week)

I haven't made the code for the wizards gaining experience...for the spells I just borrow from FfH ie:
Spoiler :
if iPromotion == gc.getInfoTypeForString('PROMOTION_FIREBOLT'):
newUnit = pPlayer.initUnit(gc.getInfoTypeForString('UNIT_FIREBALL'), pUnit.getX(), pUnit.getY(), UnitAITypes.NO_UNITAI)
pUnit.setHasPromotion(gc.getInfoTypeForString('PROMOTION_FIREBOLT'), False)
if pPlayer.isHuman():
CyInterface().selectUnit(newUnit, True, True, False)

(also of course the fireballs, etc disappear after 1 turn)

Except that instead of having wizards cast the spell, the spellbooks do.

I also don't think the AI will be a big proble, b/c the AI promotes automatically anyway.

I'm willing to offer up my gaming time for full game tester for each release. I can also dig some music up, but most of it will probably be northern European instrumental stuff.

IN this case then wizards could gain experience by casting spells, although this open to outrageus abuse (constantly casting). Also if a wizard can hold 2 spell books then it can cast 2 spells in one turn, surely that makes it too powerfull. Although I think that I have a way around that (when a book casts a spell, it looses exp and so does the other book held by the wizard. This should be foolproof)

I was thinking the same thing (right now wiz's can only hold 1 spellbook, but in the future I want them to hold more than one)

maybe only a 1 in 3 or somethng chance of wizard gaining 1 experience point each time he casts a spell that is a healing/buff spell

or if it is an attack spell, it only gives experience if the spell is destroyed before the end of the turn (ie they used it to attack an enemy) though Im not sure its possible to do, b/c I don't know how you could tell which spell came from which wizard

soon, I'll send you the code so you can check it out for yourself
