Would that be Al-Muktars desert dogs?

Will you be using mujahid model? Can you exchange the spear for a scimitar?

Alright, finished beta .05. It's uploading now. I'll send link to bugtesters as soon as it's available (probably tommorow sometime b/c I'm uploading to 3d downloads)
For now, here's the white flags for it (if you don't know what this is, you probably don't need it)

updated first page with the tilean army and a new classified ad ;)

Edit: Keep in mind that I won't redo the armies in the mod for another two updates (next week is Tilea and Mercenaries, week after will be magic items and spells, week after (hopefully) will be new tech tree and army list)

Hello there , tried the alpha some and found a few problems ..

Its in the civilopedia under Buildings and Wonders.

Also visual in city view on some buildings ex1 and ex2

Landscape issues (minor) City name , Small icon1, Small icon2

Is it possible to test the beta? hard to test the gameplay in the alpha with so much missing.

Btw im curious how you will include religion ... while it works ok in a normal game , in fantasy it just seems off. I've played the fall of heaven mod some, but elves with the overlord religion and dwarves with elven religion kinda show a obvious problem. (disclaimer , even tho i played the civ3 WH mod i dont know much about WH really ;) )

Anyways keep it up , looks good !

Dammit, the woodelves are getting pounded in the poll... :( Come on people, show us some love!

Hadn't seen that one...
I've seen an older version of the same one (I think), but it wasn't as good.

@Traxer Thanks for the feedback. I'll fix the in game text problems-the dragon throne & throne of power (totally spaced those out!)

The ones in the civilopedia, but not encountered in game are placeholders for now...they won't go in for a while..
I think I know why the icons are doing that (because fireaxis is stupid and decided to make one icon file with every icon instead of letting us link to individual pictures) I'll try and fix it before next release

Religion is still going through design. There are 6 religions so far (though there will probably be 8-10 eventually), some of which are race based, specifically elf and dwarf religions. I kind of find that inevitable. They play a big part in the background of the game, and to ignore them just wouldn't work. Like in the vanilla civ, I hope that the races who originally founded the religion have a greater chance of getting it (based on starting techs) but if they don't, well the ancient Spaniards founding Hinduism isn't all that likely either...

Edit: I forgot to mention I've come up with a minor solution to a few problems. Elven religion specifically- since there are 3 different branches of it, the war god (and your unique units) will depend on your civ. If you are High Elves or a mostly "good" race, your War God will be Asuren. If you are Dark Elves or a mostly "evil" race, your War God will be Khaine. If you are Wood Elves or a mostly neutral race, your war god will be Kuranos. But, like I said, it'll be at least 3 releases before I add some religion
into the game.

I'll fix those texts you mentioned, as well as a couple other things ploe pointed out and then I'll reupload and send you a link

(PS I CANT BELIEVE THE STUNTIES ARE WINNING!! They don't go in for a while anyway...too many funky machines...)

Civ and religion specific units is a great idea .. secret society sorta thing? (both civ units , religion units and civ+religion units .. or did i missunderstand ? ). That would make it possible to accept a "good" civ to have a "evil" religion. Though a "dwarf" religion could be difficult ..tho a mystic .. shadow .. light and such.

Hope you understand .. kinda like you can be a dwarf with light religion .. or a dwarf with shadow religion ... have 5 units in common , light bring 3 units .. shadow bring 3 units .. dwarf+light bring 1 unit .. dwarf+shadow bring 1 unit. meaning both "choises" has 9 units (amount of units is just for the example ofcourse).

This mean a alot of units tho and even more work :D

Hmm what you are describing actually is kind of the opposite of what I had in mind, though right now very little is programmed with regards to religion and nothing is set in stone.
How religion is planned now is as follows:
There are 6 relgions:
1) Chaos
2) Old One Worship
3) Human Gods
4) Elven Gods
5) Ancestor Gods (Dwarven Gods)
6) Orc Gods

Yeah, I know the names aren't exactly original
Each Religion has 4 Main Gods, one each of Nature, War, Magic, and Crafting. You can choose in civics which aspect of religion your Civ focuses on. While focused on an aspect, (say "War"), you can build temples, shrines, etc... to the gods of that aspect whom are spread to your cities. (For ex, if you have "War" as your focus and you have the Chaos religion and Orc religion spread in your city, then you can build a Temple to Khorne and a Temple to Gork)
These temples enable unique units, one for each level of holy building. If you change civics so that the aspect is different, you can keep your old buildings however if you build a new one to a different god in the same city, the old one is destroyed, so you can't have temples to every god in every city.

If you were following closely, you realize, yes this means 4x4x6=96 religious units! Plus more for things like the elven gods, etc...

No wonder I haven't even gotton started on it yet :D

The unsatisfactory aspect of this is that races can found each others and have each other's religions.

Wait I just got a brilliant idea! ;) (From here on out, this is me thinking aloud)

But this is a world where gods are literally present and revealed themselves to different races. So what if the Old Ones hadn't commanded the Lizardmen to take care of the world, but the Dwarves instead? Or if Sigmar had been born a goblin?

If I change the wording in the game to "The Old Ones have revealed themselves to the Dwarves" instead of "The Old Ones religion has been founded by the Dwarves"...then we might have something...

The Religions could be:
1) Chaos Gods
2) Old Ones
3) Defenders of Mortals?
4) Wise Ones?
5) Ancestor Gods
6) Wild Gods?

The ? ones I just made up, I'll think about them more later. I actually find this method more satisfactory than how the Vanilla game works. Because, like many have pointed out, in the real world it's individual people who found a religion. But in the WH world, gods come down from on high or whatever and tell the people how to behave.

So in this method, some gods see that a Civ has found a certain technology that they are interested in and so the gods choose to reveal themselves to those Civs.

The spreading of various races religions is acceptable, b/c it does happen in the WH world, underground especially. Like the Cult of Pleasure (a Chaos cult) was spread to the High Elves, even though they are staunch advisaries of Chaos.

What does everyone else think? Especially those of you who are big fans of Warhammer? Acceptable? It will be a while before Religon shows up, but when it does, would this be a good form or are there any other suggestions?

Much better idea then mine :)

The wording will make it "feel" more like a fantasy mod i agree.

Not meddled much beside some XML (some default options just has to be tweaked ;) ) but if it's possible , setting a "desire" level on civs for a certain religion that could be a way to go .. think there is one for civics, tho unsure if it mean they research towards it.
