You do remember the discs for Civ IV were incorrectly labelled? The "PLAY" disc actually isn't; the "Install" disc is the actual play disc you need to have in the drive to play.

Yes, of course, could not have gotten this far without noticing right away that the disks were incorrectly labeled.

For what it's worth...

I installed the patches, and couldn't run things... once I installed the latest DirectX 9c (Yes, it is the June one) everything ran fine. <shrug>

Hey Trip, can you tell me what version of DirectX you are showing then? I just did a Start - Run - dxdiag at the bottom of the first screen is the details of the Direct X, altho not the date. Mine says DirectX 9.0c (as you mentioned above), with the exact details afterwards of 4.09.0000.0904 Is that the same as what you show?
