Warlords Patch 2.08 Released!

Conquistador 63,
It seems it is a problem with the Brazilian distribution! Has TechDealer answered your inquiries? I've already sent them 3 emails with no answer! I'm seriously thinking about returning the game!

Does anyone know how to solve the plz insert CD problem with the patch? Apart from a no-CD exe, of course. Cheers.

Is there any known issues with spies used to steal technology? I was trying to steal rifling and consistently getting the message that the enemy had no new technology. He won't trade it to me because he says he hasn't had it long enough (grrr) so the system is recognising i don't have the technology. He's going to go to war with me due to the irritation from my spies, and it's cost me a lot of money. In future i guess i'll just ignore the steal tech ability.

I installed and can run the warlords expansion V2.0 but when I download (in game) and try to install patch 2.08 i get a message that Warlords is not installed. Can anyone help?

You can only download the official patch if you have the CD version of Warlords.

If you have downloaded the game from the Internet - you have to wait for that site to load up a version of the patch for download.

I have a purchased version on DVD but i'm not sure which contry its from, I installed the english version and it runs ok but I can't update. I can download the patch in game but when it runs the install it says the game isn't installed. Based upon this information can anyone advise me?

Maybe the download became corrupted.

You could try uninstalling Civ4 and Warlords. Then do a system cleanup followed by a Scandisk and then a Defrag. Depending on your hard disk size this will take a few hours.

You then have to reinstall Civ4 and Warlords then patch 208.

Side note:

As a matter of course, I always run defrag after a major installation to ensure large files are not fragmented. As this may occasionally cause problems.

Brazilian Players:
I have the same damn problem. I e-mailed tech dealer too, but, as far as I know those guys' "work" (I needed them before), we definitely can't count on them. I e-mailed the US support and asked for help. I asked them to get in touch with the proper departments in fireaxis or k2 or whatever, in order to pressure tech dealer in Brazil for a solution. Maybe we should all do the same.

ehhh... I managed to delete the file in C: - Program files - Firaxis - Warlord - Assets, the file I deleted was the cvGamecoredll.dll... Can anyone please upload the file to me? Thanks

It's far faster to reinstall the game from the CD or DVD, then to wait for someone to upload the file for you.

My brother got the cd, and he lives 3 hours from here. So I dont think it is :P

Cant you just upload it on something like Rapidshare.de, the file is like less than 5 mb big and easy to find. Please anyone?

Brazilian players,

Tech Dealer has made available a 2.08 patch through their site that do not trigger that hellish "no cd in drive" error. With their patch, the game plays fine, as far as I can tell. Their web page is a bit of a pain, as it does not fully support firefox (I don't know about other non-IE browsers). I had to load it using the IEView extension :(

So, the actual problem is apparently solved, but I still wonder why it exists in the first place. Upon installing the expansion, UNpatched, it is possible to play without the CD in the drive (contrary to what the manual claims). With the patch downloaded through the in-game update, the game does not load and gives off the annoying "CD not detected" message, whether it is in the drive or not. Now, with the patch they just made available through their site, you can play without the CD in the drive again! What gives? Sure, I'm not complaining! I prefer not having to put the CD every time I want to play! I just don't understand why I had to wait through a week or so of frustration in order to be able to play. Could anyone provide a real explanation?

Cheers all,

Alryon

Well - if your brother has the CD and lives 3 hours away and you are trying to play the game without the CD - Sounds somewhat illegal to me. :(

Okey, sorry for asking mate. I do have the game, just that I dont play with the CD. But if it is illegall then forget about it.

Tech Dealer deserve it. They overpriced the expansion (90% of the Vanilla price!), they took 3 months to release it, the game failed to load after the patch. (ah... and they can't even make a site that opens with Firefox...)

I guess the language is an issue but if you can read english then is it cheaper to buy it overseas? I can only speak english and haven't traveled so forgive my ignorance.

I know that my girlfriend buys DVDs from england that are sometimes cheaper than buying locally, even though england is about as far away from sydney as you can get and stay on this planet.

The game is NOT translated, it is in english... and ordering games from abroad is never a good option in Brazil, because you end up paying almost the same in taxes than you pay for the game itself. 60% in customs + 15-20% city tax and they also tax the delivery cost. So, if the game costs $25, we have to pay around $60 (25 game + ~8 delivery + 78%) to "import" it...

Hi all!

I had to change my system (reinstallation and such). My whole previous C and D drives are stored on a hard drive, along with the civ4 program (which also has warlords and most patches installed).

Is there a way for me to patch it up to 2.08 without reinstalling the whole stuff? I mean the program runs and all but - of course - the system thinks I have no civ4 installed (not to mention warlords :D).

Something strange occured after installing the patch:

I used the 'mapvisible' thing in my assets/technology on 1 to remove fog of war so i could play with visible non-black terrain (laptop ATI 7500 mobility)

After the patch was installed, the terrain was black again, while i still had the mapvisibility on 1 in my techinfo.xml.

Any solutions??
Otherwise i have to uninstall the patch.
