We Need an Atheist Symbol!

I watched a speech by an atheist recently. He made some good arguments about atheism. For one thing, there should be no word for atheism. There are no words for people who disbelieve astrology, people who disbelieve in karma, or disbelieve in the Tooth Fairy.

So, since there really should be no word for atheism, there clearly should be no symbol for them either. :D
Ideally he'd be right - but if believing in the tooth fairy carried the same power as belief in God, i.e., billions of people believed in it, belief in the tooth fairy was used as justification for passing laws, children were brainwashed into believing it, and people were stigmatised for not believing in the tooth fairy, you can damn well bet people would come up with a label to identify themselves as not believing in this nonsense.

i completely agree that we need a symbol for Atheism! i go to a roman catholic school and there is only 1 other atheist in the school, and when i get into religious conversations, i am continuously asked what the symbol for Atheism is and its embarrasing to tell them i don't know. we should have 1 to unify us all to show that we are proud to be Atheists and say 'You see? i am an atheist.'
Why not ask them what the symbol for Theism is?

No no no, why be embarassed? And why care for 'unification' or making a group of something that requires none? Nonsense I tell you! And really, all you need to be proud of is yourself, not anything be it a country, race, species, group, idea, yadayada. Such things are petty and laughable. Atheism has no and needs no symbol, because it doesn't worship or hold any such thing in regard nor is it something that needs to be 'symbolized.'
All you need to do is laugh and tell them you don't need anything for validation about who you are. And don't let such petty things as certain ideas or whatever define who you are either.

No way. There is no need for a symbol and the answer isn't "I don't know what the symbol is" but rather, "there isn't one".

How about a cross with a red circle around it, and a line through it...? On second thought maybe were better off without one...

Pirate flag.

What we need is a new word: anti-theist.

Most of the people who are simple atheists merely don't believe in a deity, so there is no need for a flag, a symbol, an organization, a cause.

The ones who are vocal are tired of having [in the U.S.] Judeo-Christian dogma shove down their throats, and they are pushing back. They are actually against the theism, thus the word anti-theist.

[Note: I was going to merely mention the Christians, but then the word is anti-christ, and that has already been taken. ]

As has probably already mentioned, a symbol has already been thought of:

... though I fail to see the purpose of it.

What is so great to have no belief in a supreme being or somekind of God that requires a symbol to express it.Who gives rat's @ss!

What is next?We need a silly banner that express vainly that-"I am an individualist!"

I'm against Judeo-Christian dogma being shoved down my throats - but I wouldn't describe myself as antitheist, as that implies I'm against all theism, including belief or worship which isn't shoved down my throat.

The religion I have an issue with is that which is forced upon people or used to influence others in some way.

Anti-theistic has a completely wrong connotation; what they mean is unreligious - being anti something makes it seem like you're leading your own or a collaboral crusade against theism (which is a religious philosophy/branch, and not even religion as a whole).

Every belief system needs a symbol in my opinion
from what i know the most popular known atheist symbol
is An atom with an A in the center with nucleus should be
assuming your making a mod you will proabbly want to use a symbol
like that because from what ive heard its the most known of
the symbols people hav use atheism in these times

Obviously...
