We should mail a toy round the world again!

I can not see where I have used the phrase "post a photo" but please correct me.

The post card goes in the normal snailmail post, US Mail, Royal Mail, Canada Post etc. You do not have to scan. Just put the real name (not say mad viking) and address on it, correct postage stamp plus a message would be nice for the person receiving it so that they know what it is for; then put it in a post box.

The digital photograph would be uploaded onto the thread. I have never done this myself could someone link an easy guide, what about the size of the photo?

I assume you did not buy a camera then. (from the first page of the thread you linked)
What's the difference between "post a photo" and "upload a digital photograph"?

To me that suggests that you want people to take a picture of the postcard.

If any kind of camera is involved in this, count me out. I'm happy to send postcards, and if any recipient wants to take a picture of it or scan it, fine. But digital cameras baffle me and I would rather not have to muck around with one.

You can just use your phone to take the photo, unless it's a super old phone from the 90s it should work well enough for the purposes of taking a photo of a postcard.
I don't have a phone that takes pictures. It's a landline that's attached to the wall, and doesn't even have an answering machine or caller ID (although the number will flash on my TV screen if I happen to be watching TV when the phone rings).

As I said, I don't mind writing on a postcard and mailing it. But any photos of it will have to be done by the recipient.

Sorry I have edited 1 in to make it clear that the photograpgh should be something you take of you town, point of interest etc not the photograph..

When we sent the camera around the world, nearly, we did not photograpy the packaging. Well I did not!

The post cards are just a means of linking the photos together without the risk of the camera being lost since everyone supplies their own camera.

Okay, I'm confused. Postcards have pictures on one side and the back side is where the message goes, plus the stamp and address. So I don't get this thing about "the postcards are just a means of linking the photos together."

Count me out. If anyone would like to exchange postcards privately, feel free to drop me a PM. But for the purposes of this project, it sounds more complicated than I'm up for.

The first time was a camera, and it disappeared somewhere between Europe and somewhere else. With Bumbles the Yeti, there were two of them. I think Birdjaguar might have been the last person to post photos.

Here is the last post in the thread.

Why not just mail a post card.
When you receive it you take photo and Upload.
Then send a post card to the next person.

Then there is nothing to loose, a non responding person can be bypassed etc.

On the first attempt as you explain in the 8th post a camera was sent but was lost after going from Finland to Australia twice.

The second attempt Bumbles the Yeti was posted. People took pictures of the Yeti at points of interest and uploaded the photographs.
But two Yeti were lost and so that idea died.

Following your post I thought about a low value item you post that would not matter too much if lost.
So on post 9 I suggested posting a post card.
Since my post was directly below yours I assumed most people would realise that this would just be a tigger for people to post photographs with out the need to physically send a camera or object to photograph in places of interest.

The idea is to send something around the world as in the first two attempts but with no risk apart from some people having to send a postcard again if they do not arrive or a person does not respond. It is the same as the first two times but there is now little need to go to a post office, so it is easier.

So the postcard is supposed to be photographed and uploaded, and the postcard is to be snailmailed to the recipient.

As I said: I don't have a problem mailing a postcard. I do have a problem taking a picture of it.

So if that's not acceptable, count me out.

NO NO NO

Silurian, I really don't understand what you're saying. You appear to be saying that we both take a photo but we don't take a photo, yet the photo is supposed to link the postcards, or vice-versa.

The dealbreaker for me is that it apparently involves a digital camera. I don't do digital cameras, so COUNT ME OUT.

Thank you, and I'm unsubscribing to this thread. The rest of you carry on, and have fun.

In the first attempt a camera was sent to take photos at points of interest.
In the second attempt the yeti was sent to take photos at points of interest.

People want to try this again but they need a way without the camera or the yeti which have both failed to get around.

They want to take a series of photographs around the world that traces a journey.

So the photography that is to be taken this time is exactly the same as the first attempt but with the persons own camera as in the second attempt.
So you take a digital photo with your own camera of some point of interest as in the previous attempts.

The post card is just to produce the journey. People need to know when to take the photo. (There are already threads where people upload pics at random). So people have to send one post card to the next person on the list. When that person gets the postcard they know it is time to get out their camera and go and take a photo of a point of interest. Then they send a post card to the next person on the list.

So the post card is of less importance than the unrelated photo (but it's nicer if the post card is of something interesting).

My point remains: I don't do digital camera stuff. So I will not be participating.

Yes the post card cound be an envelope with a note inside but I thought a post card would be "nicer"
