Welcome New Members

Hello everybody. I`m from Finland and I hope all you understand my english. I hope too that there are some other finnish people, who I can talk to by my own language. Maybe I`m not expert but I love Civ!

Hi Folks,

I'm a complete n00b! ;) I generally don't play PC games but have found myself addicted to Civ IV. A buddy talked me into it, and now I find I can play for hours a day, if I let my self.

I'm finding the tips here are very helpful. I'm about to try some of them out (I'm practicing so can wipe out my friend online!)

Hello All, New to posting on the forum but have been lurking for 6 monthes. Been playing CIV since Dec 2005 and warlords since Aug 2006. Adicted to the game and ended buying a new PC so my wife and kids could have a computer to use.

Hello all,

I've been a fan of Civ since the beginning. I've read these and other forums for many years, but have not posted. I've learned a lot and hope to learn even more.

Later,
gojira

I have a little question for all you pros....i used to play civ 2 and youwere able to purchase a unit right away. How do you do that in civ 4.

thanks for the help

hi, I have been playing for a while. I like warlords better but i wish that warlords would include australia as a civ (I know someone else that it as a mod).
I am using amra's mod and its great but i have a problem with it.
Later in the game just has im on the warpath (usually after i destroy a civ)
the game crashes  and i cant autoload it. but i have 2 high scores with it.

Wow. It says here that I have been lurking since October 2006? This forum has been great fun to read and lots of help. Thanks and keep up the good work, people.

actually, it says you've been lurking since jan 13, 2002!!!!

Hi. I just became addicted to all this recently. I got Civ IV a couple weeks ago and then got Warlords a few days ago. I never played any of the previous ones. This is mainly because I never had a decent enough computer to play games with. Now that I finally built one, I find myself liking PC games much more that console games. Anyway, I wish I would have gotten into this franchise much earlier. And don't be surprised if I ask a stupid question somewhere. In fact, I think I might just go that now.

Welcome to the forums, everyone! :wavey:

In Civ4, you would need to have appropriate civic to rush unit (either by population [needs Slavery civic] or with gold [needs Universal Suffrage civic]). You can see the list of civics here: http://www.civfanatics.com/civ4/info/civics/

Hi all,
I'm new member of this forum. Last year, I've got a CIV III CD from my gf. At the begin, I don't like CIV game. But now this is the game I like most.
That's why I registered this forum.

i started playin civ 1 back when i still couldnt get a cities pop over 8, played civ2 religiously even after civ3 came out. never played civ3 at all; am nuts over Civ4 and warlords, cant wait for BtS:hammers:

Hi All !
I'm newcommer here. I'm a programmer from Russia, Moskow. I like Civ-III, especially PTW. Our forum, Civfanatics.ru, stopped playing troika, so I turned my eyes on this forum. I always liked strategic games, but payed attention on civilization by pure accident. Now I see no game that can be so interesting. Our civfanatics often translate articles from this forum and many of them reached top notch in Civilization. But I don't like playng with all my mights just to score the result. Nevertheless I would play this COTM/GOTMs. It's a pity that I missed GOTM-66 (Celtic is my favorite tribe in Civ-3C).

Yo,

I'm also new to the forums but i've played civ for 2 years or so..
Although, i go here almost every day to gather inspiration and strategy tips to own my family in hot chair multiplayer! :D

Hello, people. I suck at Civ4 horribly, and will be hounding these forums like a madman for advice. I am particularly experienced at Civ1 and 2, so hopefully I'll bring something to the table.

Hi All playin this game since fırst one i spent 2 weeks before register to thıs site and ı found the site very usefull experienced Civ 2 and Civ4 warlods cya

If no one else has responded to your question, you need to have the proper civics. I don't remember which ones you need but one lets you use people to complete a build and another lets you use gold.

I use the moniker of 'Der Schloss' which means fortified position in German. I adopted it when I was playing 'East Front' and 'West Front' back in the late 90s - man, does time fly. My son got me hooked on playing stragedy games when he gave me 'Lords of the Realm' and I got beaten by the AI in the first game I played. Since then there has been, in addition to EF&WF, Axis and Allies, Imperial Glory, Freelancer, and some lesser games. Due to have been born with water on the brain (I was saved by an observant and competent doctor) it takes me a long time to understand all the nuances of a game, so when I am ready to play online, wargamers have moved on and I'm a day late and a dollar short. I have been playing Civ IV since October and am only now winning a game at Warlord level playing Julius Caesar going for a Conquest Victory. There were 2 AIs with me on the same continent and 3 on a second. I am battling the last and the year is 1946; I had to jump fast as it is Mansa going for a Space Victory. The hardest change is to stop building 'pretty' cities and going for the bloody victory because the lower levels allow building such 'pretty' cities and still winning. Now that I'm retired (I'm 68), I find it hard to keep away from the game(s) so I made a rule that the PC doesn't get turned on until 1PM. Even though I do handyman's work in the mornings, I still think about game stragedy whilst thus engaged.

Thank you for reading this message.

Der Schloss

Commitment not contribution, is the key to victory!

Hey, I'm from Canada and I used to play civ 2 8 years ago, and I've just recently switched from civ 3 to civ 4 with warlords.

I'm still getting used to the differences in civ 4, and I've really had to adjust my strategies from civ 3. It's a lot of fun though and I look forward to learning more and getting better at it.
