Welcome New Members

Newly active to Civfanatics... Played all the civs since the original "Civilization" (with no roman numeral..). Really enjoyed FfH2, revolutions, Rhyes and Fall, Rise of Mankind 2/new dawn. Probably my favorite civ was the expansion that put one in Jules Verne's earth (civ2 or 3?). Waited on civ5 - when first came out, reviews were lukewarm. Civ w GnK + all DLC went on sale... so here I am. Civ5 is very different form the prior offerings. What a learning curve. My plan? Play the talls (Babylon, etc) until I can win on diety (max?) difficulty. then expand to other styles of civs... looked at mods, but haven't installed any yet. Is this an appropriate introduction?

Hey all,

I'm not much for creating mods myself, but I am a respectful user and enjoy trying out new and creative content made via, the community.

Been gaming for most of my life, from the Coleco, Atari, S/NES days (My favorite) to present day consoles and PC rigs.

See you all inside! -Cheers

Hey everyone

I just joined this forum after reading strategies on here for some time. Ihave fallen in love with civ v, it gives me tons to think about while I'm at work! I think is forum is absolutely great, a lot of well reasoned mature people genuinely asking/giving advice, it is really something to note such an outstanding forum in the cesspool that is the Internet.

I Didn't realize I was not a member until I tried to sign in today. I've used Civfanatics for years as a resource. Glad to be a member now.

Hello civfanatics! I have come here in seek of forum posting privileges, fame and fortune and, most importantly, MONTEZUMA! You heard me right, i your savior have come to rid this glorious website of the foul, evil, comically angry pestilence known as montezuma. Please message me if you wish to join or are already leading a glorious crusade against the tyrannical ruler of the aztecs, and stay strong my conquistador comrades!

Hello, everyone. I am NeoBlisseyX, and when I am not playing Civ4 Complete (BtS is my version of choice), I am a voice actor for Internet-distributed radio dramas.

I look forward to contributing my talents any way I can.

Hello everyone.....I have been playing Civilization V (that I downloaded off the net) on my 64 bit Hp machine which runs windows 7. I attempted to load this game unto my new Asus notebook which runs on windows 8 and I have not been able to launch the game even though the DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 option windows opens unto the screen. I checked the compatibility options in the launch program settings and it indicated that the game would run with a windows xp service pack 3 setting. I tried it and it launched the game but it still wont move from the start up to "click to continue" command. Can this game run on windows 8?

Hey Peeps,

Have been a Civ player for a few years, and after having tried Civ V many times just find it never matches the intrigue and game-play of Civ IV, so decided to stick with that until Civ VI appears (if that day ever comes!). Enjoy all the excellent comments and advice available on the forums, as well as countless youtube videos from many of you, so thanks to all for your help in making me at least a passable Monarch player these days! My username is taken from the only other game I play - I'm sure many will work that one out !

Cheers

Hello!

I discovered Civilization IV a year ago. Before that, I've played CivRev in the DS. I'm newbie in Civilization, a noble player. My English isn't native, so I usually make mistakes. I've taken this nickname because I love the ancient Egypt.

I'm also a chess player, not an expert, but an average player. I've seen that you have a chess subforum, I'd like to revive it :).

-Cheers!!

The trouble is, I'm joining this forum because I'm so frustrated with the trail of tears that buying Civ 5 has sent me on! I am NOT a happy man! But I'll try to be nice as I introduce myself...

I'm British, but I live in Croatia. I'm 58, but somehow not yet senile. Bitter, but not twisted. I hate Microsoft, and I hate Steam.

I LOVE Civilization -- the DOS original, which I bought back in the 20th century and still play. For its age and size, it's a masterpiece, and the mode13h graphics (320x200) are stunning! Then I obtained Civ 3 and was bitterly disappointed by it. Why would they put so much effort into making the game worse? I went straight back to the original, and still haven't played a game of Civ 3 beyond the first few turns.

I bought Civ 5 weeks ago (mostly for the hex-based map), but I haven't been able to play it. There's obviously a problem with Steam, but their support staff won't help me. So, since they're refusing to do the job we pay them to, I've joined this forum in the hope that someone will be generous enough to do Valve's job for them.

Cheers!
(And, if anyone can help me, I really will cheer up...)

Hi All,

Never played Civ before, but ive got really interested after watching lots of lets play on youtube. Usually im more the RTS player like CoH, Tropico and Simcity but i grew up on PG 1 and PG 2, then i moved to PG 2 AK. Im also a big fan of Age of Empires series. For the moment im waiting for my copy of Civ 5 gold edition to be delivered and ive already got the Brave New World. A few more days and ill jump in it but for the moment im trying to learn as much about the game as possible. Well thats it for now, and big thanks for all of you to have a great source of knowledge here, just what i was looking for. Peace.

Greetings ya'll. As you may have already guessed, I am Shady Grady of the glorious and mighty Aztec nation!

Yeah, for about the last five years, since I first purchased CIV IV, I have pretty much exclusively played as Aztec ruler named Shady Grady, which should give an indication of my overall style of play.

My current gameplay, my goal is to stretch to well past the year 2700, or as far as possible (I assume that's possible, heh). The current year is around 2224. I've been one turn from finishing my final SS component (Engine) for many many years, but I switched that city over to "Culture", to prevent my imminent, and glorious, win. Meanwhile, the other CIVs are slowly catching up to me, so unfortunately I am in a constant STATE OF WAR!!!!!! I've dropped about 45 nukes so far and will stop at nothing to demolish all other CIVs to the point to where they'll never accomplish their objective. Mansa and Cyrus are giving me quite a go of it, though. I have 2 groups of 55 Modern Armor - one six turns from Mansa's SS producing city, and the other about 11 turns from reaching Cyrus' SS producing city. This based on my most recent Spy reports, but they have since been captured, so it's dicey. Anywhoo, once objective #1 is accomplished, I shall spend the next millenia repairing the damage I have done and getting back to being popular. Then, and only then, I will revert my one city back producing its SS Engine and then I am blasting off into the sunset - bam bam DONE!

All must admire the mighty, knuckle-headed, Shady Grady style of game play.

I hope to come up with much better stuff then this, but just wanted to introduce myself to the board.
