What additional civilizations would you like to see in Civilization V?

I wouldn't say the same as USSR vs Russia
But Iran vs Persia is very similar to Italy vs Rome
Those civs obviously are in the "modern" category, and I myself don't really care for those either
Anyway, I wanted to mention there a couple similar civs too (besides the more colonial ones)

I picked Zulu and it seems I got some heat for that choice. To me the Zulu have earned their place. Hopefully they are a DLC civ, they did stand against the mighty British Empire twice, that has to count for something. Who else did that? America, and their in!

Some others I would like to see are Tibet, Hittites, Sioux, Portugal, Poland, Hungary, and perhaps Vietnam, or Indonesia. So many choices.

So just because I picked the Zulu, does not mean I have no interest in others. One not listed is Italy, I'd love to have Italy so I could make some WWI/WWII scenarios with Gods and Kings. I suppose I could use Rome, but would like to have something like Italy’s Elite Infantry: The Bersaglieri as a UU.

what he was saying earlier is that the plural "civilizations" means that you can pick more than one, since it was a multiple choice poll. but yeah, pick whatever you want.

I picked sumer, brazil, "other colonial or modern civ's" and other central asian civ's.

Sry, maybe my reaction was too hard
It's perfectly fine if you like the Zulu of course, noone said your vote on them was a bad thing

I just don't understand why you guys only picked your favourite one civilization
This poll in not about that, there is a separate poll for that

Italy isn't popular enough IMO to be included as a separate option - and would probably be strange to have them together with Rome for most people
It is under other modern and colonial civs though, even listed there

How can Iran be on cause Persia is Iran!

Presumably because they want to distinguish between Achaemenid Persia and Islamic Iran (Safavid among others). Same as the differences between Rome and Byzantium.

No hard feelings. I understand what you are getting at now. I did not read the poll carefully enough and only voted once. Sorry about that, because I would have had several choices for civs, that I feel should be added.

Italy perhaps would fit better as a specific mod civ.

When I make a WWI scenario, I'll just use Rome, it does not bother me all that much. I was thinking of making a huge map of Europe, the Med, encompassing North Africa, and the Middle East, before GnK comes out. Not sure if the map would work with GnK though, perhaps I should wait other than doing some geography research and so on.

I picked the following:

Zulu, Mali, Khmer, Portugal, Indonesia, other middle east (for Isreal), Hittites, Poland and Sioux.

I would other civs but these are my greatest desires to see in the game.

TBH Firaxis simply needs to redo the artwork, leader, etc to just put Sumer, and the Hittites in the game....

I would really like to see Brazil be added as would shore up the South American civilizations. And be a modern one at that.

So, trying to get a list from this too. Trying to find the civs with 20+ votes
It's hard to assume how should the grouped votes count (much harder than it was in the other thread), but I will try anyway

For Other middle eastern civs, Assyira and Israel are the two most likely candidates
Nevertheless I don't think any of those got more than 3/4 of all the votes, and probably all the other civs have much less votes
I place these 2 around 23-24 votes, while all the others possible civs in the region probably have much less than 20

Other European civs are not too popular
Not surprising, mostly because of the eurocentrism of the 1st expansion
Anyway, this combined option is on the last place by far currently
None of the other european civs would have gotten more than 10 votes so far

Other north american civs
This is the hardest category to guess, there are just too many similarly popular options, and it got 39 votes
Which could be the dominant civs there? Apache? Navajo? Comanche? Pueblo? Inuit? Cree? Mississippian or one of the 5 civilized natives?
Really hard to guess...
Also, it's in this category where IMO it matters the less whether someone get's the Apache or the Navajo in the end...
I can only base my numbers on the few comments in the 2 threads

Other african civs
27 votes suggest that some of those civs are really close to make it around 20
But I'm not sure if 4/5 of the voters would have choose any of them if they were a separate option. Maybe Nubia barely makes it around 20-21 votes...

Other SE Asian
Similar case to Africa. The huge difference, that in this case it seems (based on the comments), that almost everyone would gladly see Vietnam, at least 5/6 of the voters
So, at least 21-22 votes for Vietnam
None of the other civs would reach anything close to 20 votes

South American natives, Other Central Asian civs, and Other modern or colonial civs got fairly low votes
None of the civs in those areas would reach the 20 vote threshold currently

Here is the list, the grouped options separated - based on my prevous post
So, after 111 votes, civs with at least 20 votes:

1. Indonesia - 61 votes
2. Kongo - 51
3. Portugal - 50
4. Zulu - 49
5. Sumer - 43
6. Poland - 39
7. Brazil - 37
8. Sioux - 36
9. Tibet - 35
10. Hittite - 34
11. Morocco - 33
12. Khmer - 32
13. Zimbabwe - 30
14. Khazars - 28
15. Hungary - 24
16. Assyria - 23.5
16. Israel - 23.5
18. Vietnam - 22
19. Phoenicia - 21
20. Nubia - 20.5
21. Mali - 20

With at least 3-4 North American Native civs somewhere between 20-30 votes
Apache, Navajo, Mississippian, Pueblo, Inuit are the most likely candidates that made it over 20.

Im glad the expansion makes Austria is now in. Still miss Hungary though... So voted for them, as well as Poland and Lithuania...
Would love to see Kievan Rus, but understand that Russia is the place-holder... Even though Ukraine would be more historically accurate perhaps..?
We already have Denmark and Sweden, but Norway would be "cool".
Maybe have Portugal or Brazil...?
Israel have been since biblical times and should be in. Strange it is not.
Ireland and Italy have had great cultural influence around the world, maybe have them...?
LOTS of options!

Everytime there's a poll or discussion like this one, I'm always surprised to see Israel as a relatively popular choice. Why does everyone want them in game? They've achieved so little of note, and they've only existed since 1948. It wouldn't make any sense to include Israel in Civ to represent that area before 1948, it would be like choosing the United States to represent all Native American tribes in the US before the the US was unified. And if they're only representing the post-1948 nation, that's even worse. I won't start on all their immorality (people seem to be in agreement that morals aren't important when choosing what Civs to be in-game), but I will say this: their achievements to date are negligible. Compared to Rome, England, or even Songhai, they just don't stack up, at all. I'm not saying that they won't ever be a great nation, but they certainly aren't now. Their military is based on US support, and that's pretty much the only thing impressive about them. So can someone please explain the love for Israel?

Some people claim that Israel could somehow represent the Hebrew Civilization, whose greatest achievement was only founding a religion . But the only ties that Israel have with the Hebrews are merely geographical and linguistic . For that reason,I support the idea of separating Israel from the Hebrews(even knowing Hebrews were as much irrelevant as Israel during their short existance) .

Even comparing with other "Modern Civs",the achievements of Israel is negligible and I could say that, unless they wipe out the religion segregation, their only achievement is to be condemned as a black chapter in human history, standing right next to the Black Death,Inquisition,Holocaust,Nuclear attack at Hiroshima/Nagasaki,Apartheid,etc .
