Say im an 8th grader, and i ask out a 7th grader. is this wrong? what are the age limitations for people dating in Middle School? For highschool?

The laws vary based on where you are.

In the US each state has its own laws, including the required age difference between the two parties as you asked about.

wow dude, im not talking about sex. im talking about age rules set up by popular society for dating.

2years in either direction of age is generally accepted. Although, there are different concerns when dating either older or younger. Of course in High school you can get away with being a Senior and dating a Freshmen or vis ver sa.

Do you mean legal rules? I don't think non-sexual 'dating' has any legal requirements or rules to worry about.

If you mean social rules, then you would know best if your friends approved of your dating a 'younger' girl or not.

Or just ignore them and go for it. :)

I'd say a year difference in miniscule at pretty much any age.

Yep, that's pretty much what my impression was.

 I had no idea that in Canada it's as low as 12. I'd thought it was 14 (which is still lower than most).

Some areas have two ages with parental permission as a required factor for the younger age.

Age of consent at 12? :vomit:

I find it interesting to see so many countries have a distinction between male-female, male-male, and female-female, as far as ages are concerned.

I think that you are too young to be dating.

According to a guy I know, half your age plus 7.

Well, he is from Victoria, so no one ever said he was a genius. :p

Age of consents are changing because the age that people become mentally or sexually ready for sex has decreased in the last 100 years. Puberty occurs at a younger age than it used to(probably a result of better diet mostly) so the laws often change to reflect this.

The way society views sex between kids also changes. Don't forget Romeo and Juliet were 14, back then the age of consent was pretty much up to you, when your good and ready.

The law is meant to protect the innocent, not dictate when and who they can have sex with per se, but to prevent abuse of children and abuse of older children of other children etc etc. If you want to have sex with another consenting individual, and your ready, provided you don't break any "law" or even the law, I don't think there's much anyone can do about it.

The law and attitude of society cares little(it's not meant to punish sex in some draconian intolerant God fearing justice type way, although In the US I think the age of consent is ruled by religious ideas rather than reality, not really sure, but there age of consent is definately too high in comparison with other countries) just be careful is all. Sex is a minefield. And women/girls are crazy :D

If you are not having sex, I don't think anyone would care about your relative age. Now if you meant to have sex, whenever its legal.

I'm 13 and in eighth grade. I'd ask anyone out between the age of 12 and 15. Hope that helps.
