What are you hoping/expecting to find out at PAX?

originally in Bethesda, now they are in Rockville. Bethesda is such a rich place...every time i drive through people are casually dressed like they just got back from a formal of some kind

Yeah, Bethesda is quite nice. I'm on the Virginia side so I have have reason to go up there.

And yeah, have they ever actually given the fans a lot at once this far in advance? Don't they always drip us info?

They typically drip info (which is the normal marketing tactic). However, I felt like G&K was pretty aggressive in releasing info early. Maybe Ed Beach and Dennis Shirk have a different philosophy, I guess we'll have to see.

Oh nice, where in VA?

And yeah, as far as loyal cores are concerned the civ fans are as hardened as it gets. However they approach it they'll have little to nothing to lose and everything to gain (unless they go completely bonkers or become EA hogs)

Edit: Just read your location, it's clearly Arlington

:D

Personally, I'd prefer to info dripped out. It gives an opportunity to analyze everything to death without having to deal with waiting time towards the end with nothing left to be surprised by.

We really analyze things to death it's hilarious. It's like we throw out a hypothetical or potential and then analyze that....then analyze what we've analyzed. If you go back and read the pre-G&K speculation it's comical how far off the mark we were.

(and technically i'm analyzing how we analyze right now)

thatz wut da inturnetz iz 4! Believe me, i was a COD fan for a loooong time, and I believe they "perfected" Drip-Marketing........but hey nothing much to analyze in a COD game, but they did it anyway LoL...........here the depth of the game gives an enourmous amount of guesswork when an expansion is drip-fed (i like it) though sometimes you set your heart on something and convince yourself its gonna make it, but it doesn't that sux haha.

At least its not as dry here as over at Serebii, about Pokemon Generation VI.

What I want from PAX is what I think most people want here: nothing too solid, but screenshots, footage and statements which fuel the fire. I would like clarification on tech trading, however.

I doubt we'll have tech trading.

I agree in principle. Some more quotes and explanations of the new elements (that'll help clarify it) and some new screenshots we can dissect, but nothing officially released.

It's just that this:

Technology Trading?

- Also the way that it ties into the New World Congress to the way that you’re going to have horse-trading in terms of the buying and selling of tech with other civilisations - Dennis Shirk
- while not 100% this does seam to imply some sort of way to trade technologies

has thrown my doubt for tech trading.

I honestly hated tech trading, I always kept the option off in Civ 4. I am hoping the multiplayer community agrees largely too then to also ban tech trading from games. If its limited to the World Congress and after and only done by a majority vote of civs, then I guess it could be more acceptable.

I don't think we'll have tech trading. It was over exploited in Civ IV and made the game too easy in my opinion. Research Agreements and espionage are better alternatives to tech trading in my opinion.
Speaking of espionage, I wouldn't mind if we had varied spy options, but I have a feeling that is not going to change in this expansion. It would be a pleasant surprise though...

I had gotten the impression that techs are cheaper to research if you have a trade agreement (more specifically, techs are cheaper for the less advanced civ). The quote there doesn't quite say that so either I misread it or I am thinking of a different quote. Tech Trading is such a big addition that it wouldn't have been buried like that, imo.

Can International Trade agreements work with City States seeing how they have unique resources not available to civilizations.

Do City States do more in BNW than just sit there? Can Civilizations do more than just pay them to get access to resources, etc. Can we force alliances rather than demand tribute with no repercussions at all?

Any related to la politique mondiale (sp?).

Has Religion been tweaked? What about religious units, buildings than can actually be produced rather than earned via faith points?

Hopefully tech trading will not return.
It would be nice if they'd had a some gameplay, but I think we'll get some screenshots and to be honest that would be already pretty good.
Am I the only one finds the BNW announcement kind off dull compared to G&K?
We did get a lot more info when G&K was announced, but this has probably to do with PAX being so close and the main announcement/reveal will be at PAX and what we got is probably a tease to stir our interest.

Literally the only thing I'm hoping for is for the multiplayer to be fixed. It's always been the most depressing part of the game, the lack of a proper multiplayer.
