What civs do you want in Civ 5 - Updated list

Carthage with this suggestions will become an absolute top tier civ. I'm eager to get my hands on them. Harbors with gold output (instead of 3 maintainance) will make trade routes/railroads really worth having and settling inland with them will be an interesting trade off.

Exactly, the mystery of pre-colonialism by European countries in both South & North Americas is a complex set of theories (or facts) lost in the conquest. Dresden codex (and other artifacts, btw) being the single most important discovery in post-Medieval Science.

Just the Mayas might have gone westward to some atolls for all we know.

I know it's been argued in other threads, but thinking through, thought up a neat UA:

Canada:
Leader: Sir John A MacDonald (or Laurier)
UA: Peacekeeping: +2 happiness when the empire is not at war. 1 free social policy when liberating a city-state
UU: Mountie (replaces cavalry): reduced strength from cavalry, but +25% bonus when fighting in friendly territory. +1 happiness when garrisoned
UB: stockade (replaces walls): +1 gold per luxury resource worked by the city

And again, we arent talking here about real or imagined historical values of these civs. Whichever one it may be, they are already present in the game. However i wonder why draw the line at Berings Strait and deny the people in eastern parts of Asia all the benefits you granted to the Inuits, namely being the ancestors, including culturally, of american natives, including the Inuits. And seem to be unaware that Eastern Asia got colonized just as well.

Thats one more reason to bring these guys in the game, to show regular gamers world events they are unaware about.

Or...
Canada:
Leader_1: Lester B Pearson (50$/Bill, Peace Nobel Prize)
Leader_2: Terry Fox (Marathon Run to cure Cancer)
UA: Trade Surplus = Strategic resources gives +2:c5gold: when worked.
UU: Avro Arrow (Replaces Fighter Jet)
UU: PeaceKeeper (Replaces Paratroopers)

Taken straight off Marc-Andre Belair's MOD with my changes in Italics.

Enough about the Inuit/Maya/Amalgamation/Whatever!

Alright, as you wish... but only if you fix the Poland Spoiler box and dare i say - ADD Canada!

PS; For Indonesia - should we concentrate the complex variety on;
-Java
-Guinea (New or not)
-Phillippines
-Borneo
-Brunei
-Sumatra
-Timor
-Malaysia
-Papua
-Sulawesi
or put them all in the same modern "Pool" of distinctive nations?

I raised a note about this on another thread-What about the Minoans? Although they were pretty small, I do have an idea for them:
Leader: ??? (I don't know too much about them)
UA: Earn +2 Gold from every sea resource worked
UU: Labrys (Double-headed axe): Replaces Swordsman, added strength
UB: An improvement to the temple (what would it be called?) with added happiness

for the indonesia i designed earlier in the thread (though i just realized that the ability needs to be changed, so i'll need to work on that), i decided to go with the majapahit, so
Spoiler :

nah, they're probably about as different as france and germany. i gave them a unit based off of the caravel and a building based off of the garden so far. just need to give them a new ability.

You mean from that post?

Indonesia is such a highly inclusive general term for that region that it's quite easy to "trick" anyone into thinking Majapahit is as mysterious as the Celts or Incas were.

Given the historical references used, it can certainly lead to confusion when someone even tries splitting Korea from China_Manchuria_Japan origins.
Kinda - controversial, again.

PS; Might as well put Joseon right beside the Korean Civ name, too in a similar reasoning of the Java people.

having majapahit instead of indonesia or java is pretty much the same thing as having ottoman instead of turkey, but i take your point. although korea was probably a bad example.

Indonesia/Malaysia/Majapahit/Srivijaya etc (i'd prefer Majapahit) are a great idea as i've said (with a lot more support than I thought I had) in other threads.

A good UA for them would be something to reflect their archipelago origins, such as "Glory of the Archipelago" - ie: all coast tiles produce +1 food (indonesia has 250,000,000 people after all, it's the world's 4th largest country in population). Or: embarked units have +1 movement and +1 sight. Or: Harbours provide +1 happiness. Or something. I'm leaning towards +1 food for water tiles. Also you wouldn't want to make them too similar to Polynesia who got their ability because of their legendary reputation as ocean explorers/colonizers. +1 sight is more an exploring thing i would give to portugal maybe, or even messing with embarkment could be saved for the vikings who are famous for their longboats.

Their start bias would be to seek coast, avoid desert.

Their unique building could be a garden that provides +happiness and +culture or a harbour that does so. Unique building could be a naval unit (their navy apparently defeated that of Kublai Khan) or the Keris warrior with his wavy blade - a replacement for the swordsman or longswordsman. I also liked the idea for a garden replacement.

Favoured victory could be cultural or diplomatic.

Other civs i'd like to see personally (I mostly look for civs to fill up gaps in the world map like the indonesian archipelago, or ones we havent done before):

Korea
Vikings/Norse
Zulu
Portugal
Carthage
Mayans

Zulu's could have the Impi (replaces spearman, costs either more or the same, strength 9 and +10% when neighboring friendly unit, stacks with the honor policy and great generals - it would be more historically accurate to make this guy require iron, but unless you make him a pikeman replacement which would suck because spearmen much better there isnt any way to do this) and Unique Improvement the Kraal which is a much better pasture. Perhaps +1 production and +1 food from a normal pasture? Zulu capital would be Ulundi not Zimbabwe like in previous games (WTH Zimbabwe?). Zulus would seek cows and maybe plains. UA could be something to do with great generals, you'd have to make sure it didn't overlap with China and Mongolia I guess. Or just a general boost to all units with a unit in a neighboring tile to reflect the impressive battle tactics used by the Zulu - you'd then take that bonus away from the impi and make him strength 10 instead of 9. Favoured victory would be domination.

Would be funny if the Mayan UA was that they had to win by 2012 or lose automatically :p.

I agree that a harbour replacement with extra gold for carthage is accurate, interesting and cool.

I would like to see unique embarked and trireme graphics for more civs (it seems silly to have china embarking as a european style ship pre-industrial era). Asian nations could have something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfNoOFUx5-I as an embarked graphics and something like this: clicky Middle Eastern civs could use this style: http://www.alrsaildesign.com/images/DHOW60C_small.jpg

hebrews should probably have a unit too

Majapahit:
Leader: Gajah Mada
Unique Unit: Kapal (replaces Caravel, can melee attack, starts with Targeting I, all other info stays the same)
Unique Building: Candi (replaces garden, doesn't require rivers or lakes, +33% :c5greatperson: great people generation in this city, all else the same)
Unique Ability: Grand State (half maintenance on buildings)

I like this... soooo;

UB; Church +3:c5culture:, same cost, same maintenance... but replacing the Incense/Wine effect with additional +1:c5gold:/per city population (somehow, charity)

UU; I can't think of anything or anyone that could represent the Hebrew that uniquely, awesome. So recommend something.

Well, the only thing I remember about Judah Maccabee is that he ambushed a Seleucid army or something (before going to caves and the whole 8 days of oil thing happened). I wonder how the retreat power of the Incan slinger would play on a melee unit.

Dutch

UI: Windmolen. Adds one production to a tile. May only be build next to a lake. Drains adjacent lake in X number of turns turning it into a Polder. Polder has a basic yield of 2 food and 2 gold. A farm, road or railroad may be build on it. The tile remains a source of fresh water. If the Windmolen is destroyed the lake will fill up again in X number of turns.

(in the case of bigger lakes, a windmolen is needed for every laketile in order to drain it, number of turns increases exponentially)

UU/UB: I don't care, East-Indiamen perhaps.

UA: Mercantilism, trade network earns extra gold for every extra luxury resources connected (ie, every second/third/fourth etc. resource of one type).

i think these are it
