If nothing else, you made me check out what 'marooned' means.

Well, it's actually a pun on something else.

I applied to several US colleges this year and the only one to accept me was the University of Chicago, which as "maroon" (a dark red) as its official color. Since I had no other choice than to go there, I decided "marooned", as in being trapped somewhere, was an appropriate description of my situation.

Paul Wolfowitz, US Deputy Secretary of Defense, got his PhD at Chicago, so I decided he would be appropriate both with my situation and my earlier use of Defense Department officials as avatars.

@SeleucusNicator: Well then that just might be the must subtle avatar/title combination ever in the history of the Internet. :hmm:

U of Chicago is a very good school though isn't it?

This is off-topic, but yes and no. On one hand, it has more Nobel Prize winners (74 or 75 since it was founded) than all but a few countries and more than any other institution in the United States, and most likely the world, and it has the best departments of Political Science and Linguistics (the two I plan on majoring in) in the United States.

However, it has no reputation with the common "man on the street" like some other places do. You rarely hear about it.

I am currently looking for a better Wolfowitz picture. I'd prefer one where he is pointing forward, but also one where he is larger and more prominent.

The problem with you is that you think too coherently.

Amusingly, if you've got the appropriate kind of humour, the first translation of 'marooned' I found was "having been coloured dark red". It didn't seem to make sense, so I searched some more and found the "trapped" one.

My avatar reflects my name and mood.
Firstly, for the last week or so, I feel very anti-capitalist and anti globalisation.
Also, my name is nonconformist. Therefore I do not conform. Nor do rebels. Who better to display rebels than Che Guevaera?

Where else did you apply and what was your transcript like (Im wondering since I am soon to enter the college hunt myself)?

I'm planning on majoring in political science also. Are you planning on going to law school, or to get a PhD in the field?

IIRC, zombies require decayed flesh. It is a apparet that your avatar is instead a reanimated skeleton.

Still cool though!

Both, if all goes well.

That'll make it time for the return of the Roger B. Taney avatar.
