Um no... I can sit with the fact that the term "Middle Ages" s euro-centric but not everything was invented by Europeans. Moors used it first against 'reconquistadors' in Spain much earlier than The Hundred Years' War. OK well maybe the Moors were Europeans at the time.

Except we don't really have any evidence for that. Bacon mentioned the use of gunpowder in one of his books of the early 13th century and expanded upon it later to include a description of projectile firing; the first Arab attested use was at the Battle of Ain Jalut in 1260. Earlier uses are possible but not necessary; in short, we don't really know who got it first.
