LOL at people who miss the BTS 3.19 joketastic AI.

I'd say I missed the diplomacy screens, but their inaccuracy and under-the-covers type of BS makes me miss them less (that diplo system is just as bad as this one that hides stuff from you, which is awful).

So what I miss the most is the ability to review how the game went at the end and watch the empire grow...why was that removed???

I think its more to do with their dissatisfaction with the current AI. I'm quite sure a few months ago there werent so many lovers of the CIV IV AI :D

I would like the victory movie too. The end of the game is just too abrupt.

And that explains how awful is the AI of Civ V, to push back players at Civ IV AI...

Mhm I think it is worth of a gift like Gaming Oscar to Shafer: "having made preferable Civ IV AI to the Civ V players"

I miss the health system. But from the poll I voted religion. Not per se the same as in Civ4, but somehow implemented.

I miss the health system, because I now find the cattle/fish/sheep/etc resources quite irrelevant. It also adds another decision factor. Should I expand towards that fish-rich coast? Shall I trade my extra ivory for cash or for sheep with my neighbour? Etc.

this is just depressing now. i miss most of those things.

how can we have moved on 5 years and have a new game for more powerful pcs which has 10% of the complexity of the predecessor?

apart from the graphics and sound this game could have been run on an amiga or an atari st.

the thing is, that the civ franchise was never based on a single issue of playability like some kind of tetris or angry birds or mariokart. it was about being able to do all the things that seemed realistic to the leader of a civilisation through the arc of time. they spent 20 years adding and adding and optimising and then took them all out in 2010 it's insanity.

except from a slash and burn commercial point of view of course...

miss more stuff from civ 3 like the dromon and the hoplite and the conquisidor and
the buildings that made units

but nimoy is kinda irreplaceable in the sense that he is iconic
and Civ4 got him before they made that last trek flick

i bet it costs four hundred eighty nine million dollars and forty eight cents to get him to narrate

i think he hosted a "strange things that happen" type show and maybe they could buy some clips
and when you build the Great Wall they use a cut when he is talking about the lochness monster
"said to have leapt from the depths and stretch out" or something

the evidence is clear

Nothing,

I won't miss Civ4 until at least 2 expansions come out. Even then I am not sure.

So you expect each expansion to make this game worse  Otherwise there's no sense in what you said.

Replays and Leonard Nimoy. Seriously.

I just don't like the new voice actor; he sounds like he's trying too hard.

maybe he meant civ4 expansions. I think Firaxis should just abandon Civ5 and pretend it was all a bad dream and concentrate on more Civ4 expansions. :D

I don't miss anything from Civ IV...because it's still installed on my computer and I still play it.

Many other members have showed posts of you saying that you never played/don't own 4, and that you only played Civ 5 and Civ Rev.

Of course, it does make sense that you don't miss anything from Civ 4, because how can you miss something you never experienced and have never played?

I'll have to go with AI, which in part was because of stacks.

I can't really answer the poll, everything on that list I loved. I didn't really use Espionage that much, however, I don't miss that. But I'm okay with it being in the game, and would be happy if they released it in an expansion.

I bet you guys that religion and espionage will find their way into an expansion.

I voted the music, because it's closest to "sound effects". I miss the inspiring sounds of founding religions. I miss the deep sounds of expanding culture. I haven't experienced the sounds of modern warfare in ciV yet, but I may also miss the gunfire sounds of the mech infantry.

Yeah, the music isn't very good. To me, it all sounds the same, while in Civ 4 there were clear distinctions in the eras, music wise. I really liked that.

Out of the following list, what do you miss the most from Civ4BTS?

If the thing you missed isn't on this list then vote for the one you miss the most, but post what you really miss in the thread!
Couldn't decide! I miss to many things, I've only played vanilla Civ4 though!

I miss these things from the list:
Religion
Tradeable Technologies
Corporations
Civilization Starting Techs
Bottom Right Scoreboard
The Music (Baba Yetu FTW!!!)
The Diplomacy Overview Screens
Global View
Civ4 Style City Micromanagement
Needing to build Roads to Resources
Post-Game Line Graphs/Summary or more lines/graphs in general not just endgame
Post-Game/Hall-Of-Fame Map Replay or more lines/graphs in general not just endgame
The Research Tree Layout
Permanent Alliances

Things in bold should be compulsary for every upcoming Civ title!

I was close to saying religions, they where interesting to manage...I didn't play much late game, but I feel corporations where also fun. but 100% I go to nemoy, he absolutly made the game. I thinkI listened to every tech advance, avery timeI got one.
