What do you think about Poland?

Czech friends - do you happen to know what language / dialect is this? I understand most of words - they are similar to Polish words:

I think it is "prajzština", the dialect sometimes spoken in Hlučínsko.

As a general rule, whenever I hear someone pronounce long vowels as short ones ("Ostravaci maji kratke zobaky") and accent other syllables than just the first, I know he/she is from northern Moravia/Silesia.

Its closer to Polish or maybe some Moravian/Slovak dialect then what we speak here in Czech oops I mean Bohemia. I think Silesia is probanly the place it comes from.

But what exactly would you like to know Gorakshanat? Info about German training system?
Hey, anything concerning German or Polish armed forces prior to attack on Poland would be interesting for comparison. And if you want to take in account Czechoslovakian forces in hypotetical scenario of mutual defense pact with Poland that will be welcomed too.:goodjob:

I made a Polish civ a bit of time back, what do the Poles of CFC think of it?

Modern Poland is a country with low crime rates (2005 - 2.1 homicides, 5.1 rapes and 117.46 car thefts per 100.000 inhabitants, compared to - respectively - 3.0, 10.7 & 245.7 in Germany or 5.5, 32.2 & 421.3 in the USA; or compared to 29.03 rapes in Sweden and 7.78 in UK or 403.4 car thefts in UK, all per 100.000 inhabitants). And comparison of overall crime rate (also per 100.000 inhabitants, also data for year 2005):

Poland - 3578.9
Germany - 8045.7
UK - 11550.0

So much for the stereotype of Polish car stealers.

Spoiler :
Unless, of course, Poles go to Germany & UK to rape, murder and steal cars there. :mischief:

But at the same time Poles are one of the most... - let's call it "self-pessimistic" - nations on Earth. While homicide rate in Poland in 2005 was 2.1 per 100.000 and in the USA it was 5.5 per 100.000 - with overall crime rate also lower in Poland - only 42% Poles said that their country or city is safe / that it is safe to walk alone at night (as of 2006), compared to 76% Americans (US & Canada - as of 2009) and 62% European average (as of 2009).

This is too Poland specific. Doubt it would be intersting to our friends overseas. The movies are good though. Shame they aren't shown on tv nowadays. I've recently watched Czechoslovakian 1960 trilogy about hussites, and it was fairly good too.

Oddly enough, Hollywood seems to be interested in Russian history, though.

A movie with every Hollywood cliche imaginable. Still better than nothing.

Tad OT, but thanks Poland for getting me a day off school today :goodjob:

Looks nice! I might have even played this one before, but I don't remember Walesa being there. Earlier version maybe?

Walesa's been there the whole time.
