I like the geometrical shape even though some say it is bad and satanic and stuff. It used to be a Christian symbol and also has pre-Christian origins. But now people don't like it because it is associated with satanism (just like Swastika geometrical shape which I also happen to like is now associated with nazism)

I will be gone for 2 weeks. I am going to ask someone to ban me for 2 weeks because otherwise I spend way too much time here. So I won't reply for 2 weeks :)

If the Pentagram is turned upside down, then it is associated with satianism.

The pentagram gives a good repressentation of phi, which I believe is why it was adopted as a wicca symbol in the first place.

"Omg!1 t3h pentagarm = evul11eleven"

I wonder why it's seen as so satanic? Damn Hollywood!

It was part of the early church's plan to demonize all pagan symbols and just kind of stuck with us to this day.

EDIT: Not to mention, Satanists have adopted it as their symbol, so that doesn't help its image much.

Its only santanic if the star points downward.

IIRC, pentagram is also an old feminine symbol, which got the "satanistic" meaning because of patriachic church.

When turned so that one arm is pointing downwards, it's a symbol for a goat. The goat is originally a symbol for male fertility, which got the "satanistic" meaning because of the church.

Pentagram for me means just a star that can be drawn with one continuos line.

I think of it as a star, and it's easy to draw.

I guess I just don't think about Satanists that often.

Well, its suspiciously similar to this graph:

From this articles:

The colours are slightly different, but I find it hard to believe that its a mere coincidence (especially given that this is one of cierdan's favorite wiki articles)

Pentagram-wise, this is one from Caballa:

The pentagram ina circle is often associated with wizardry or sorcery or magic or whatever you call it, probably part of why it is related to stanism upside down, course form many angles of perspective it coudl be upsidedown or rightside up if two guys look at it it would be both! I like pentagrams in circles:)

I know it has a load of religious/cultural associations, but for me, it's just a nice shape I can draw with one line. It's a good meditation symbol: I'm so bad at meditating, it helps to have a simple shape to focus on. I usually use a sky-blue mental pentagram against a brownish background, though now I've taken to using a moving golden spiral.
