What do you think of the PETA?

wow, those crime scene pics are crazy, but wouldnt we have heard of this in the majors?

Ah, the PETA-bashing ritual! We haven't had a thread like this in a few months. Anyway, as I've said time and time again, they're a bunch of looney bins.

PETA is just a whole bunch of liberal nutjob.

they fund the terrorist elfs and that alf guy

the horror

ELF: Earth Liberation Front
ALF: Animal Liberation Front, not the fella from Melmac.

P.S. - Love that avatar!

PETA doesn't fund the ELF or ALF.
These organizations aren't really.....organizations. They're groups of about 5-6 people that commit direct action under the umbrella of the ELF. This is the main reason the FBI has been unable to infiltrate the ELF. Can't attack an organization that doesn't really exist.

I don't respect their beliefs. Intelligent conversations with these people would be near impossible, so I think they are pathetic morons, in a politically correct kind of way.

"Center for Consumer Freedom found that over the last six years, the animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has given "significant amounts of money" to support the Earth Liberation Front (ELF), "

Very interesting, an anti-peta group found evidence (through public records) that peta is funding the fbi's most wanted domestic terrorist group?
This seems a bit odd doesn't it? Since you'd figure aiding and abetting terrorists would be noted by, for example the FBI and not a collection of news reporters. "PETA funds eco-terrorists, group says"
While I don't like peta....but I fail to see how this is any evidence, whatsoever. The ELF is not in collaberation with PETA, and while they share some principles, the ELF is a staunchly anti-capitalist organization, and PETA executives pull six figure salaries.

I think their intention is good, the girls are cute. Female taste better than guys.
But im not giving up on meat also. Since it taste so nice.

If PETA was founded funding terrorist ,why they are not disband?

btw one of my ccausin a members , naver had her in thanks giving like ever.

I can respect someone that won't eat meat/use animal products. I have to admit I probably couldn't bring myself to slaughter an animal. Still, that's not going to stop me from eating a steak or wearing leather shoes.

PETA, unfortunately, is largely a pack of goofballs but as someone above said: at least they have attractive girls do all their shock advertising.

Was PETA the guys that were sending death threats and what not to a farm in Britian that rasies Guinie Pigs(or something) that are used for testing? Or was that Elf or Alf?

Either way I respect their veiws but, wrong way to do it

There were several groups protesting, but the extermist one was ARM - animal rights milita IIRC. They did more than send death threats though

I agree with some of their points but their methods are very questionable and imo counterproductive for their cause. There are more moderate organisations you can suppport if you care for animals.

There are documentaries about "animal plants" which made me think about what kind of meat I am going to eat. I don´t want to eat meat pumped full of antibiotics, growth hormones and stress hormones.

Summary: I only eat meat from lucky animals :D .

I kinda understand them. go to their website and watch their videos. There are so many incredible cruel things done to animals... I can barely watch these things and after watching them, it is understandable that people want to do something and change the fate of the animals.

did you know about bile bears? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bile_bear
and we all know about animal experiments! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal_Experimentation
aquarium fishes are injected colour to make them look funny http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juicing_fish
mass farming to achieve low prices http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Factory_farming
and many many more

All these things are disgusting and unjust. It is noble to do something to improve the conditions of animals world wide.

However PETA is IMO often doing it in a very unrealistic way which does more harm then good. Veganism is surely a good way to avoid that animals are tormented for your welfare, but I still want to eat meat and fish and consume other animal products. IMO it is acceptable to kill and animal to eat it. But the living conditions should be improved and that is something that PETA should be fighting for more strongly, instead of doing their stupid veganism slogans. By condemming i guess about 90 % of the world population they have gone a wrong and less productive way then popssible.

They have the courage of their convictions, but man, those convictions... :shake:
