Where did all the debates about religion, evolution and other such philosophical matters go? Now out of the top 25 topics 15 are polls are quizzes, these are all well and good but where is the meaty stuff?

I think we kind of talked them all out temporarily. It was getting to the point where the same arguments and rebuttals were coming up, so why repeat ourselves. The terrorist attack really knocked a lot of us off-kilter, too. I think a lot of people are spending more time in the Civ3 section, too. Just my hunches. I'm always willing and open to such discussions, though I'm very busy at work right now and not spending as much time here as I'd like

The reasons for posting on this forum are many I am sure. And the biggest is for enjoyment to get away from our own lives and into this "off-topic" world that can be shared by our own little group. The tendancy is to talk about what ails us when we need to share our thoughts. Those unhappy thoughts are then absorbed by the collective and the individual is releived. After an especially heavy dose of this kind of sharing the collective becomes numb and reacts by moving to lighthearted topics for a while. The serious philosophical discussions will come back but the collective has to sort through this brief phase of light heartedness and then discussions about philosophy will gradually make thier way back.

That's a philosophical question. Actually, as I complained in Tech forum, my MSN messenger client doesn't work any longer, and for the 2 last weeks. Don't know why but it won't sign in. It always says that the service is unavailable.
I'll try to fix that.
