what if Christ was learned to be a [definite] agent of an alien civilization?

say thanks for trying, they were good teachings I'll still try to follow anyway.

considering you can find those sam precepts elsewhere, why would you want to continue yourself with a "false" religion whos basis is that of extraterrestrial manipulation? Thats more or less the core of what i'm trying to get here- not only what you would do, but why you would do it as well.

That's what I'm thinking, except that Christianity doesn't just say that Jesus is a prophet, but the son of God sent to redeem us from sin. I don't know how that fits with the hypothetical scenario here.

H'm, you guys have got a point about Islam, how does Shinto sound? Either way, I am wearing a tin foil hat. So Perfection made a smart business move.

Shinto would be good. Or Buddhism. Actually, there are a number of religions that I respect and that I think could be true, but I believe that Jesus is the savior so I am a Christian. Take that away and I would probably find another one.

There IS a sect of Christianity called Zen Christianity that combines Christian with Buddhism.

What if a cow in Romania farted, and the Earth blew up?

Honestly I think that question is about as intelligent as this one.

I dont care :hatsoff:

How hard would it really be to convince the people of 2000 years ago that you were a god if you had even today's level of technology available, let alone future tech?

Claiming to be god sounds like a good way to get the local population to cooperate. Perform a few 'miracles', smite a few skeptics and watch the rest fall into line.

Maybe if there was any real evidence that aliens existed, you'd have a better argument.

The Scenario assumes that such evidence exists, as per the OP. "What Ifs" are kind of pointless if you don't accept the "If" being discussed...

Nobody has ever alleged that the OP is a realistic scenario.

An agent like 007? "The name is Christ, Jesus Christ. I prefer my Holy Water shaken, not stirred."

What do you mean, what if? The Bible already says that Christ- and Christians- are aliens on this Earth.

Hebrews 11:13 NIV
All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth.

1 Peter 2:11 NIV
Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul.
