What is more interesting to you, ancient China or modern China? Which has achieved more, which has/had better leaders? Also use any other aspects which you might find relevant.

Ancient by far. The modern one has no Terracotta Army or anything cool like that.

Modern China. Ancient China is great and all, but the modern Chinese leaders have been playing the global card pretty well. At least I enjoy reading about the progress that has been made in modern China more than I do about the cool technologies of ancient China.

Neither where very cool in my opinion, I just can't get excited about short little poeple running around in jungles killing eatch other, being invaded by every little army that happens to walk by, and being governed by short little dictators. And thats common to both parts of chinese history.

So I'll go with modern, just because there are christians there now.

Definitely ancient China. It's got one of the longest but most interesting histories of any modern-day nation. Thousands of years of culture, emperors, heroes, villains, conquests, civil wars, legends, and great epics. The modern Chinese history deals with it being subjected to the whims of European imperialism and Japanese military agression, and then the mess that was Mao Zedong's economic policy.

Although ancient China's past seem interesting, they are over and will be always there to observe.

The modern china is much much more interesting coz every steps they make are going to affect our future. its a more interesting case study.

Hey we invaded other people too. :D The other inhabitants of our current territory (which have been completely assimilated as to longer exist), the Miao, the northern nomads, the southern Man people, Korea, Vietnam, the Bohai and Dali kingdoms, the Uighurs, the Mongols, the Tibetans... :p

Yes indeed there are. Their numbers aren't that many cuz here, no religion is allowed to engage in public convert-attracting activities. Believers have to come to you, not you knocking on people's doors to tell them the Good News.

They were asking about China, not Indochina. Pick up a history book. No the Bible doesen't count.

Naturally you would feel better knowing that a distinct culture has taken up an alien superstision which you adhere to. This only further justifies your contention. Maybe if the whole population of China is completely immersed in the Christian mythological system, it will further prove that you are right in your beliefs. Wouldn't it also be nice if the old boring, pagan Chinese culture is snuffed out? 2 birds with one stone.

I dislike you both.

Modern China is messy IMO. We have falun gong, communism and other stuff to sort out w/ loads of ethics. Ancient china had silk, long trade routes, and loads of cool stuff written nice and neatly down in my history books. Much cooler, and easier to relate to.

I'll cry myself to sleep tonight.

Ancient China by far, especially with your definition. Any part of it, pre-Republic, really. Though these days I'm more into Indian History.

I find European history more interesting than world history. I find modern world history more interesting than non-European ancient history.

Modern China. Sure, ancient Asia has its charms.

But it's certainly not because I appreciate the Chinese leadership.

they are both uninteresting

Both are interesting, though in different ways. I'm more interested in modern China, perhaps because I like seeing things being created, and I find the rapid development of such a country to be quite exciting ("exciting" is perhaps not the best word for it, but I can't think of anything which quite decribes this feeling, even in Hebrew).
