What is the connection between the resurection of Jesus and bunnies?

Easter is a great holiday. You aren't expected to buy anything for anyone.

To some people I know, any date with a notation on the calendar is occasion for presents. So today they are probably out doing their last minute Earth Day shopping.

"What is the connection between the resurection of Jesus and bunnies?"

Duh!

Eggs are a symbol of rebirth (as the are laided, and then are born), and Rabitts lay eggs!!

Silly question

;) :D

Isn't that what everybody else has been saying?

Oh I get it! Jesus reincarnated as a rabbit! ... or a chocolate rabbit ...

There was a group of pagans (I forget the name starts with the P) who celebrated a spring holiday called Ishtar. The Rabbit was the symbol of the celebration and eggs were eaten to signify new birth of life (spring). Just as the christians had done with Christmas they celebrated jesus' death and resurrection on the same day to escape persercution. The Name Ishtar eventually changed to Easter and the rest is history. :)

Easter, as with all other so called 'Christian' holidays, has its roots in pagan tradition. In order to appease the masses, the Roman emporers adjusted Christianity to fit their pagan teachings. Thus resulting in the paganism of most Christianity. The Trinity is a pagan teaching, has no roots in the bible, as is the same with most so called 'Christian' teachings. Christmas....dont you think if Jesus' birthday was meant to celebrated, it would be in the bible? Ever notice how the only 2 mention of birthday celebrations in the bible have people being killed in them? Anyway, enough ranting from me, back to my non-debating form.

You know fellow Civvers, I'm almost posetive that Drewcfir dind't make this forum with the thought in mind that we were all going to start talking about capitalism and Chrisitanity. Don't you think we should either stop, or create a new forum. After all, talking about stuff like this on a thread made to honor Jesus :jesus: could make us all hellbound :satan:. (   )
Don't be so sure, from time to time I love a knock down CFC philisophical discussion. :D The most absurd questions often bring out the most closely held beliefs.

Left wing? Pah!

I'm a ruthless capitalist swine, but I'll ask uncomfortable questions about 'human-controlled christianity' if I want!

Oh, I don't know, bash things that actually cause death, pain, and suffering in the world? Insulting Christianity is ridiculous. Find someone worse to criticize, things that ACTUALLY hurt you and other people.

You say Christianity can't hurt? What about those poor alterboys that got molested? Are you trying to tell me that wouldn't hurt someone?

I was waiting for this one. What about those poor people who starve each day? What about the people with AIDS? The people who are being invaded and bombed? The people who can barely feed their children? The people who are enslaved? The people who make their billions off the suffering of others?

Find someone else to demonize.

They were not exactly molested in the name of christianity. There is no bible passage that says "go molest a child" or "holy are the pedophiles".

When Jesus died, they killed a gaint bunny and but his body in the borrow.
When he rose, they feasted on gaint bunny steak and eggs.

You know, more people would actually read the bible if there were more interesting stuff in it (not that it's not interesting enough for me) but for others it's a real drag. If there were stuff like bunny steaks and eggs, than I'm sure everyone in the world would read it! :D

I'm a heathen. Some of my friends are heathen. One or two have the god Thor as their patron deity. I COULD re-post a sig that one of them used recently while trying to make his particular point to some Christians which went...
Your god died nailed to a cross. My god carries a hammer. Any questions?
I COULD post it, but I won't. Because it would rightly be the cause of complaint and result in censure by the moderators, and I wouldn't want that would I?

:goodjob: Exactly. Blame the men who did it, not the organization they were from. Especially when the organization's teachings go ENTIRELY against what they did.

Because as long as you deny that communist principles were the primary motivating factors in economic decisions, you can pretend that all the misery that called itself communism was ACTUALLY capitalism, since it doesn't fit the dictionary definition of 150 years ago.

I'm curious if this lack of modern vernacular adaptation is across the board for you... do you still insist that 'gay' means only 'merry', or have you conceded that a words application as used in practice is more important than its original meaning?
Well, the in these countries the government made those descions, and communism should see the people as a whole making them, not certain indviduals. I'm not an expert on teh technicalities of this kind of thing, but countries such as the USSR and Cuba were, in my eyes, certainally not communist.

Utopian idealism still terrifies me as much as anything.

That is like saying "If we had an ideal society (discounting the difficulty of getting there, including 'these things'), then none of the bad things in society would exist so it'd be better"

Well... duh... now back to the real world, where ideal societies don't exist...
I am optomistic in my view that someday an ideal society can be created, but i'm not a Marxist because I don't think it is inevitable, I just wish for it.
