What is the Meaning of Your CFC User Name?

My name? Hmm, well I picked it from the comedy series "President of the United States of America", because I thought the person was very funny. :) ;)

Cimbri or the Kimbrer was an ancient Germanic tribe of Himmerland in Jutland, Denmark. They went on a rampage in the Roman world from 113 B.C. until getting their own behinds kicked in 102 and 101 B.C. I have family roots in the region, so I have used the name Cimbri quite a lot.
I also used the name “Scaevola” on a history forum (From ancient Roman history/mythology ) but there should be only one Scaevola on this forum and that’s Mr. Lefty Scaevola.

Cimbri :viking:

And what is 'Scaevola' ?

Always wanted to find out where your nick means, Cimbri .

Well Leonel is supposedly french for my real name, Lennart. I didn't pay attention to it for a few years but when I wanted to figure out a name for a character on a MUCK so I thought Leonel. And it just stuck I guess. :D

Lack of imagination, I'm afraid.

I get called Col by just about everyone and I wanted something short to type - 3 letters are compulsory in science / computing......

@ Bifrost
Well… Shortly after the Romans overthrew the Etruscan king Tarquin the Proud and founded their own republic, another Etruscan leader named Lars Porsenna tried to retake the city. A Roman patriot named Gaius Mucius snuck into the Etruscan camp to kill the king. He worked his way into the royal tent, but then tried to assassinate the wrong man. Naturally, he was discovered to be a Roman infiltrator. But Gaius, to show these feeble Etruscans how brave a Roman could be, how fearless, how immune to pain, how virtuous, how absolutely politically correct, placed his right hand in a pan of burning coals and held it there, without flinching or a single cry of pain, until it burnt to a crisp and had to be amputated. Lars was so impressed by this act of bravery that he sent Gaius Mucius back to Rome, minus, of course, the use of his right hand.

In any case, in honor of his brave deed, Gaius Mucius took the nickname Scaevola and passed it down to his descendants. The family was known throughout the history of the republic as one that upheld all the old Roman virtues. Indeed, the great first century orator Cicero was attached as a boy to the service of the then high priest, a Gaius Mucius Scaevola who traced his lineage back to the original republican hero. Scaevola, by the way, means "lefty."

Edit: Spell check…

Cimbri

Hitro isn't supposed to have any special meaning. It goes back to something strange my little cousin said once. He said his brother was "a Hitro" (pronounced he-tro), but refused to say what it means.
Years later I chose that as a nickname for no reason.
