My Favourite non-Civ series would have to tbe the command and conquer series especially Command and Conquers Generals: Zero Hour. That game rocks and not just because you can build masses of tanks and then roll over the top of your enemy in style. (Well actually it is exactly why I like tha game so much but hey what are you going to do, and what am I going to do for that matter
