Well, first there'd need to be a list of ambulance/shield awards, like with the regular awards.

Check out the Pantheon. I've added lists of Lowest Scoring Victory awards for GOTM and COTM.

Ambulances aren't there yet, as I don't think they should be mixed with victory awards. Maybe if here's a demand we can add another table.

Good addition Alan :D . Even SirPleb,Aeson, etc have these distinguished shields (Most likely from being the only one in victory category :p ).

Because the 20K is usually reaching much later then 100K and for getting a good score I must milk the game balancing on the Domination limit. You can look at Aeson's COTM08 (20K) and how many time he spent for that. ;)

:hmm: But I thought this is because Aeson purpose was not (at least not only) the fastest award, but also a high score and consequently gold medal. I do suspect that he would beat his own date if he would not go for high score. And I doubdt that extensive milking is that crucial for the date. On another hand 100K requiers a lot of city improvements and therefore some extensive care for all cities in the empire.
I may be wrong, but this was my impression from reading spoilers.

My primary goal is to have fun, and I have never been disappointed. My secondary goal is to try to score in the top 50 (which I have only managed to do a couple of times - usually I hover around in the 60's, maybe even 70's).

My biggest problem is focus. My games are laways a mixed bag of Cultural, Technological, and Military 'mini victories'. I need to concentrate more on one of the aspects, but always end up dabbling in all of them. I don't like to be Culurally inferior, or Technologically backwards, or Militarily weak. I like to dominate all 3.

Only positive thing that I can say about my games is that I never lose at Emporer or below. Never.

Sweet. Now the competition can really begin :D

Ahah! But is anyone else competing? It'll be rather a thin victory if you're the only one who thinks six shields is a worthwhile objective ;)

Hmm.. was something changed in the rules for who get the lowest scoring awards? I clearly remember getting a lowest scoring Diplomatic in COTM03, but it isnt on the list(s) anymore (IMPERATOR[SU] got it instead on the current lists).. but I originally got it.. can see that in the result thread

Of course, if the goal is fastest win only you are right. In this case 100K is harder. But if I want to get gold at the same time as fastest award I must do much work in 20K also.

Hmm I'm not sure. The award went to a Conquest player in the results listing, and I'm unclear on the rules here, so I'll have to refer to the Committee.

Ainwood publishes the results thread, and these days I think he takes the information directly from the results pages, but way back then he may have done the allocations manually himself. Alternatively, the award allocation code may have changed to ignore player class for Lowest Score awards at some point and then been reapplied to the older results.

The award calculation code is explicitly written to check player class for Fastest Victory Awards, or Medals, and not for Lowest Score awards, and is more complex as a result. I don't add extra code for the fun of it, so I must have checked this at some point in the past.

My primary goal is to have fun and I had it with the last cotm games! But with my overwhelming success in cotm09 - rank 16 - I now want to see my name in the global ranking list. At least once and rank 100 would be alright. May be my wish will come true before I prefere outdoor activities again.

The person with the higher score, IIRC.

OK for awards, but in case of shields it should be the lowest score.
So I need to reformulate the question: the same date and the same score.

Scores are actually stored in the save file as floating point numbers. As such, the chances of them being exactly equal is very, very remote. The published values are rounded to the nearest integer.

A thin victory, perhaps, but a victory still. Anyway, I see lots of people up there with 2 shields that could probably catch me if they started making a run for shields, since I might miss a few awards(like GOTM39 domination).

EDIT: As far as the seventh award for the Golden Ambulance is concerned, maybe there should be a "Reverse Cow", for lowest base score(of a winning game)? Some other animal, perhaps, or maybe a flightless bird of some kind. Penguin comes to mind for some reason. Or maybe just a Blue Ambulance?

IMHO it makes sense. OCC wil become rewardable. I suggest a buck. In Russia we have a saying about someone who is useless that is translated like this: "You are as useful as a buck milkable"

Edit: I just found that male goat is also called Billy. Whatever.

All this discussion of "Golden Ambulances" and the lowest score Shield awards made me want to look up the early discussions along these lines. Keep in mind that all Medals went to milked games until Jason scoring was implemented, so there was some heated discussions between the milking and non-milking camps. For your enjoyment:

Here is a link to Col's challenge to win with the lowest score for GOTM X (Regent level, France.)

This Thread shows the first unveiling of the 'Philibuster awards' (by Philip Martin), portrayed as familiar Shields and Ambulances, given to the first recipients.

Fun.
Really. That doesn't mean I do not play carefully, or that I do not aim for an acceptable score/date.
I admittedly tried to learn how to play competively (well, I can beat Sid, but I cannot beat a score of 7000 for standard maps ;) ) for the first 2 CotMs I participated - but since I simply cannot get myself to use all those "strategies" ;), that's pointless.
And, if I do not like the map, I do not finish the game; especially 60% water maps on lower difficulty levels aren't worth it for me, sorry. Started both CotM6 and 10, but once I knew I will win, I just can't force me to milk for 1000 years...
