Actually i used it to put nice big holes in people at a 1300 meters, in the corps we used it as a long range sniper rifle. The most powerfull sniper rifle in the world. As most others use 7.62 or other smaller caliber rounds.

It is called the M82-A3 Barrett Sniper Rifle.

A good old Barret .50 Cal, the newer one is even nicer, I'd find a pic of it, but I'm at work and kinda busy, lol.

Does anyone know what gun was used in Afghanistan by the Canadian sniper who set the world record for longest confiremed kill at 2,653 metres?

I've fired:

22 Rifles
Shot gun
WWII P-38
9 mm handgun
M-16 on full auto and one-round shot

It was all a lot of fun, except the shot gun. That thing kicked like a freakin' mule.

Of course, it is the one above, the Barrett Sniper Rifle. ;)

I had previously heard that it was the Canadian Sniper Rifle (c-6 I think ?), and I had also heard that it was a Parker Hale Sniper Rifle, do you have a link to the story that confirms it was a Barrett?

No...But I did hear it on the History channel or Discovery channel a long time ago. I am pretty sure it was the Barrett.

You want to talk about a kick, the worst i think i have endured was the British Martini Henry circa 1879, that thing kicked like a Mule on Methamphetemine.:D Although the Barrett kicked like a fricken mule also.

Why do people insist on thread jacking so often in this thread. There is a separate thread for your setiments vancouver, use it.

Shotguns of various sizes
.22 pistols and rifles
AR-15

and some potentially illegal weapons, so I will not discuss them.

I just remembered: does a Stinger count as a gun too?

If so I fired one once (without the tracking-head and only with the launch engine though), because that's basically my job in the army.

Lol you fired one once ? I'd hate to have to rely on you to shoot down an enemy chopper coming in behind me in a pinch :) :p j/k

:p well a stinger is terribly expensive, so usually we usually shoot with a simulator or with the tracking trainer (that has an authentic tracking-head but doesn't fire) :)

we were allowed to fire one, so we know what it feels like when the start-engine launches. To me it was a disappointing experience. the tube just gets less heavy, and thats about all.

I used a rifle only once when I was introduced to rabbit shooting by friends many years ago. I can't remember the details - just that it was a small-bore rifle.

I really don't feel at home with firearms at all and would not have anything to do with them now.
