what kinds of guns have you fired?

A gun's sole purpose is not to kill. Hunting (unless you're a PETA hippy and consider that on the same level as murder), target shootin, trap shooting, and various other things.

I myself consider close minded people to be the scum of the earth.

How is hunting NOT killing? And target shooting is ultimately meant to train for shooting living targets, don't try to fool yourself. I find the fascination with guns and talking about shooting guns like it's fun sickening. But that must be my problem. Moderator Action: Indeed it is your problem when you threadjsck to post in here, warned

No, I think that anyone who gets pleasure out of playing with a machine designed for the sole purpose of killing is either a disgusting pervert or mentally ill.

I hope one day you need a gun to save your life, and you have that attitude in your forethoughts

'what kinds of guns have you fired?'

This thread is not about hunting or a skilled sport. This is for perverts to boast about playing with wepons, which are used throughout the word for killing poeple. The first two posts list the following wepons. THESE ARE NOT ALL USED FOR HUNTING ANIMALS.[nod]warned, trolling in addition to threadjacking and flaming[/mod]

Chinese SKS 7.62mm
Remmington pistol grip 12 gauge
Remmingon normal 12 gauge shotgun
remmington 20 gauge double barrel over/under
S&W .357 magnum
Beretta 9mm
various .222 and .223 rifles
.25 semi-automatic pistol

SKS
Several different types and gauges of shotguns, including semi-automatic
S&W .357 mag
several different .22 revolvers
.32 semi-auto pistol
M1 Garand
Black powder rifles ranging from .45 to .54 caliber
30-06 sniper rifle
.38 winchester rifle

Cap guns and starter pistols *shrug* never anything with bullets.

I would like to go to a pistol range one of these days and fire a few rounds to see what all the fuss is about. Let's face it, guns are a part of society, they are a part of history. And we've seen what weilding a gun does to some people, whether it's a power trip or an upwelling of self-confidence of a burst of insanity. Guns are powerful and while I believe that certain guns should be restricted in society and I myself would never own one, I still want to shoot one for myself so that I can better understand my societal context and my fellow humans.

IMHO, people here should settle down. Guns are a legitimate and dangerous hobby that should be treated with caution and respect. They become evil when the invincible attitude takes over and guns are used as props in a primitive ego-driven power struggle.

Hungarian F.E.G. assault rifle. (One hell of a gun)
WWII model .308, wooden stock. (Retro, but a nice kick)
12 gauge 7 shot Remington shotgun.
20 gauge break open shotgun. (About 100 years old, but still in good condition)
This Russian police pistol, 8mm, though I forget the rest. Really sweet looking pistol.
9mm 17 shot glock police issue. (This puppy is my favorite. If you've never shot one go and borrow one to try. They are just too cool)
p. 38. 1939 issue, Germany. My grandfather picked it up off the battlefield in WWII.
7 shot 357. mag revolver. (A bit awkward to fire at first, seeing that it's not a semi-auto, but once you get used to it it's an excellent gun. Powerful too!)
Several muzzleloaders. (Which I built myself)
Too many more to count.

FWIW, I have never killed anything with a gun in my life and always follow proper safety procedures when firing. (Keep the safety on until firing and the gun unloaded until I'm in a ready position, always keep the barrel at a 45 degrees angle downward when carrying, never let children access it, etc.)

Obviously it's a very dangerous hobby and isn't something you should allow children to do, but if you get into it it's one of the most incredibly exhilarating sports around. :)

None. But seeing as I recruit a week from today, that will probably change. ;)

Water guns!

Absolutely!:goodjob: If it must be lethal to "count" then this thread really would be sick. Someone can be crazy about cars and still loathe fossil fuel. That enthusiast might just love straight track drag cars, for example, or find combustion engines fascinating.

I suspect most interest in guns though is connected to their killing potential. But we can't prejudge everyone.

EDIT: can prejudge-> can't prejudge

The one I am most familiar with is the Japanese-built NES Zapper, which I frequently use for duck hunting.

Military weapons first(since they have the big stuff).

M16 (of course) with the ANPVS/4 night vision.
M203 grenade launcher
SAW .223 fully automatic 'squad automatic weapon'
M60 and its brother the M240g
.50 cal ground/mount with armor piercers
Marc19 fully automatic grenade launcher
9mm
12 Ga. riot gun.

Civillian:
Various types of .22 cal. including a fully automatic sniper version
.45 cal revolver with 8" barrel
diff types of 12 ga.
9mm beretta
Tech 9
.38 taurus police special

Well that's about it. There are also tons of explosives I could list as well( the Marines like you to fire alot of diff things)
