Just interested in what my fellow hackers are listening to (if anything)

Its Bob Marley for me :smoke:

If he's modding Civ4 then it's nearly the correct forum. No need to go zulu... ;)

As we can all see, woodelf listens to Flesh-Field while he codes for Civ4. :P

I listen to whatever I'm in the mood for. Today it's a toss up between White Zombie, Vitro, and Gorillaz. What the ****, maybe some Beck or Nirvana later.

drum and bass :)

and not only during programming
during drawing too :)

and sometimes i'm listening to silence :)

I need quiet. Otherwise I can't hear the voices in my head that are telling me what to do (and who to stab stabby stab).

I usually stick it on my slow and boring playlist, which is mainly slow and boring stuff. Doesn't mess up my concentration but keeps me awake.

Same here :D  :D

I get too consciously involved in music, usually, but if its on for a while, I can "zone back in" and pay attention to whatever it is I'm doing. Really, there's not much that specifically helps me mod, so it could be anything from Poison the Well to Skynyrd to Less Than Jake.
Speaking of music, it would be nice if someone were to make some different models/soundbytes for modern Great Artists. Every once in a while, maybe I'd rather see/hear a jazzy saxophone or a drum solo instead of elvis doing his thing over and over again.

I'm not a programmer (yet!), but when I do 3d modeling I usually listen to rock. I always end up heading back towards the 80s though when I think about the Scorpions (here I am! ROCK YOU LIKE A HURRICANE!).

I find any form or progressive death or black metal relaxing. Agalloch tends to definitly fit that sort of doom-deathy role (especialy they're new Ashes Against the Grain CD, great CD btw).

Some hardcore, screamo, metalcore, is also good.

I think the generally most played album when programming is Death Cult Armegeddon by Dimmu Borgir. Gets me into the epic sort of feeling I like to be in when modding.

I don't do a lot of programming, and I ain't done any for Civ yet, but when I am programming a robot or modeling something, I usually listen to progressive rock like Dream Theater, Anathema, or Nightwish. If it's near Christmas, I've usually got Trans-Siberian Orchestra on, and right now, I'm listening to thei precursor - Savatage.

Also, I have recently discovered some opera that is fairly enjoyable - Roger Water's (from Pink Floyd) "Ca Ira" - and then I always love to fall back on classical giants such as Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Pachelbel and Tchaikovsky.

I also always enjoy listening to movie scores. John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Klaus Badelt, etc.

Im no programmer but for me its always classic/progressive rock or metal....
Black crowes, skynyrd, zeppelin, kula shaker, to Rush, dream theater, nightwish, therion, iron maiden, and so forth....

Warlords\Assets\Sounds\BirdsScatter-000.wav, and, occasionally, Warlords\Assets\Sounds\BirdsScatter-001.wav.

I listen to alot of the radio, hiphop/rap or the modern rock station. But if I through one of my cds in there is a good chance your going to hear some Insane Clown Posse or one of their hommie's bands. But its also quite possible it could be some old school Korn or Slipnot, System of a Down, Cotten Mouth Kings, Bone Thugs N Harmony, ToShort, Snop Dog, Ice T, really any gansta rap. At the moment I'm a big fan of Paul Wall and TI.

But if I'm coding it is probably the sweet music of silence that plays best in my ears. After all, its kinda hard to code if I'm up jump'n around and slamming into stuff around me. :)
