There's not an off topic forum so here goes in the general discussions.

Besides the civ series what other games are you into? Which ones do you play regularly?

I grab a lot of steam specials. I was obsessed with darkspore for a while. Despite a lot of criticism I find it to be a fun slasher grind.

Lately though I can't get enough of Dota2. I like the interface and pace of the game a lot more than similar games like Heroes of Newerth. Dota2 just seems like the most polished graphically, even though the gameplay has a few flaws.

I got Darksiders on special over christmas. I haven't completed it yet, but it's pretty well done, a puzzle dungeon action game with flavors of zelda but far less deep and not very challenging. Still, it's enjoyable and has a cool story line, even though the scenery is ubiquitous.

Edit: thanks for moving, didn't know there was an other games forum

I've been playing Age of Empires 3. I've played it a little bit a while back and didn't think much of it. The city card system was confusing and the barracks/stables/armory would throw a ton of units at you at once and I couldn't tell the difference, so I usually just spammed whatever.

Tried it again recently and put more time into it. The game is actually really fun. The cards make sense after a while, and once you get used to the units there is quite a bit of dynamic gameplay involved. Cannon will wipe out huge number of infantry; cavalry can be used to snipe stragglers, workers, and unprotected artillery; pikes are good counters for cavalry but will die instantly to just about anything else.

Kinda disappointed I am just now getting into it... several years after it has been released.

I play quite a bit of Crusader Kings II, I love the realism and setting up the dynasties. They are great when it comes to added new features in DLCs. I also play the Total War series, especially Napoleon Total War. And recently some friends convinced me to download Star Wars: The Old Republic, which I have enjoyed immensely for a game not being a strategy one.

Favorite other games? Probably Skyrim and Maas Effect. I just love the atmosphere and immersion in those games.

Right now? I've been playing some Age of Empires III multiplayer with my friend and am playing through Persona 4 on my Vita.

Strategy-
Total War: Shogun 2
Crusader Kings 2
Hearts of Iron III
X-Com: Enemy Unknown

RPG -
Skyrim
Fallout: New Vegas

FPS -
Left 4 Dead 2
Farcry 3
Team Fortress 2

Misc. -
Audiosurf

Company of Heroes 2 would be on this list if not for THQ's bankruptcy and the subsequent delays as the release is now expected from Sega.

My God! That CK2 is something else. I downloaded the demo after seeing peeps on this forum writing about it. That's a complicated game. I really need to kick my family out of the house for a week end so I can sit down and figure it out.

Is there still an active multiplayer community around AoE3? I played that game soooo much when it first came out, would be interested in picking it up again if there are other peeps to play with. :)

Other then Civ V, there are no other games I play regularly mainly because I find very few games that worth playing these days. Usually I just go back and boot up some classics between my civving time.

I play FIFA13, whenever I can. I'm hooked on Career Mode, also playing Skylanders with my 4 year old, not a bad game.

Actually there is a forum for this. On the forums front page you can scroll to the bottom for Other Games and Off-topic subcategories.

I've pretty much retreated back into the older games. I grew up playing Duke Nukem 3D so that's still a big one for me; and now I'm checking out a lot of the older RPGs I missed out on during the early 2000s. That and I play minecraft on occasion. These days I only play it to keep in contact with my cousin who lives out of state, I burned out on it hard before it even made it out of alpha.

I've put hundreds of hours into games like New Vegas and Oblivion but I'm not really into modern RPGs that much anymore. Same with GTAIV. I think part of it is that I don't feel like tracking down all the mods I had installed. :p I think part of the appeal of the older RPGs is that choices you make really affect how well you do. If you spec a charismatic character you still end up as Rambo in modern games, the older ones you're more on the same level as the NPCs. I get bored of games really fast when there isn't much risk of my dying. I think I had one mod for New Vegas where headshots would kill you in one hit, I got a lot of crap from my friends for that one. Probably helped that I always played a stealth character. :)

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Multiplayer. I'm also waiting for a Skyrim Gold edition for sale, all DLCs included. Although that might take a while. ^^

I play CIV V whenever I need to relax from hectic first person shooters. :)

Yes there is.

Battle for Wesnoth (recently), Paradox games (need to get March of Eagles), and TF2, but don't tell the IOTers that.

Right a lot of time is going to far cry 3, also play the new x com. Haven't been playing civ that much lately.

Looking forward to the new SIM city. Got to play the beta. Was a lot of fun

Skyrim, dragon age 1 and 2, dead island, forza 4, red dead redemption, mass effect 1-3, fall out new Vegas and spore. Play them all the way through about once a year except for skyrim and new Vegas as I have hundreds of hours into them.

I play a lot of the 1860's Old America mod for Mount and Blade: Warband, a lot of Empire: Total War, a lot of XCOM - both new and the first XCOM evahh, a lot of Garry's Mod, a lot of Minecraft, and recently a little BtS. I also play DayZ and ARMA II multiplayer a lot.

In my teens I used to play tabletop wargames, when computer moderated play by mail games (that was before the internet and before PCs ) I started playing those, easier to fit around girls and gigs.
On a business trip overseas I called into see PBM mate he was playing Civ I, two years later my 1st marriage went south after 13 years, got Civ II, and being playing ever since. Tried other games , none took my fancy.
Civ is something I do between relationships, it seems to go out the door when I hook up with a lady.

I play all sorts of different types of games. In fact, as long as it's not a First-Person game (can't play comfortably in that perspective) or a racing game, if it's quality, I'll try it. Recently beat the new X-Com, Paper Mario: Sticker Star, Mass Effect 3, and Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward (awesome, awesome, game)

So Right now, Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword. I've beaten all the previous Zelda games, and this is one of the best.

Also, Resident Evil 6. Pretty meh, overall...

Waiting for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and the new Sim City.

I also watch Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 tournament matches on You Tube. It's a great game for competitive viewing: really fast paced and deep.

Outside of video games, I'm a big fan of Dominion. My friends and I have collected all the retail editions. Also, Metal Gear Solid: RISK (best version of RISK IMO).
