Tale the free test here. https://www.16personalities.com/

I am an Advocate. :) Here's the opening words of the introduction to my personality type:

The Advocate personality type is very rare, making up less than one percent of the population, but they nonetheless leave their mark on the world. As members of the Diplomat Role group, Advocates have an inborn sense of idealism and morality, but what sets them apart is that they are not idle dreamers, but people capable of taking concrete steps to realize their goals and make a lasting positive impact.

Advocates tend to see helping others as their purpose in life, but while people with this personality type can be found engaging rescue efforts and doing charity work, their real passion is to get to the heart of the issue so that people need not be rescued at all.

I got "Adventurer".

Adventurer personalities are true artists, but not necessarily in the typical sense where they’re out painting happy little trees. Often enough though, they are perfectly capable of this. Rather, it’s that they use aesthetics, design and even their choices and actions to push the limits of social convention. Adventurers enjoy upsetting traditional expectations with experiments in beauty and behavior – chances are, they’ve expressed more than once the phrase “Don’t box me in!”

[...]

Adventurers live to find ways to push their passions. Riskier behaviors like gambling and extreme sports are more common with this personality type than with others. Fortunately their attunement to the moment and their environment allows them to do better than most. Adventurers also enjoy connecting with others, and have a certain irresistible charm.

Woefully incorrect.

I don't feel like taking this test right now.

This is basically just MBTI, plus the assertive/turbulent dimension which I think is supposed to relate to the neuroticism/stability dimension in the Big 5 model. The last time I took a Big 5 test I was a little below average in neuroticism.

I have always gotten INTP (here called the "Logician") on MBTI tests in the past. Occasionally I have wondered if I might be an ENTP "Debater," as I have become somewhat more extraverted in the past few years and people have commented that I can be very talkative when sharing random facts. I've also occasionally wondered if I could be an INFJ "Advocate," as I relate much more easily to INFJs in the MBTI Facebook groups and always get along with INFJs very well in real life (including my sister, my first love, and best friend). I still think INTP is the best fit though. I'm nothing like the trolls that dominate INTP groups, but do relate to the descriptions written by more mature INTPs. The excellent memory and tendency for sentimental reflection on the past fit well with tertiary Si. I think my extraverted feeling is stronger than most INTPs', but still fits in the inferior/aspirational role.

I think I've taken these with different results over the years. One problem is that some questions ask what you do, not how you think. Sometimes people pretend, and sometimes people learn and become better at pretending with age. I'm very introverted, but I've learned to pretend to be more extroverted in some social situations. And it's not like this is really bothering me or I feel like I'm not true to myself. Sometimes the mask we wear in public are very comfortable and makes us feel safe behind them. Even if they can get heavy and require a lot of maintenance, it can be worth the effort.

Despite the caveats, I found the result actually pretty accurate.

Mediator Personality (INFP, -A/-T)

Mediator personalities are true idealists, always looking for the hint of good in even the worst of people and events, searching for ways to make things better. While they may be perceived as calm, reserved, or even shy, Mediators have an inner flame and passion that can truly shine. Comprising just 4% of the population, the risk of feeling misunderstood is unfortunately high for the Mediator personality type – but when they find like-minded people to spend their time with, the harmony they feel will be a fountain of joy and inspiration.

[...]

At their best, these qualities enable Mediators to communicate deeply with others, easily speaking in metaphors and parables, and understanding and creating symbols to share their ideas. Fantasy worlds in particular fascinate Mediators, more than any other personality type. The strength of their visionary communication style lends itself well to creative works, and it comes as no surprise that many famous Mediators are poets, writers and actors

[...]

Unlike their Extraverted cousins though, Mediators will focus their attention on just a few people, a single worthy cause – spread too thinly, they’ll run out of energy, and even become dejected and overwhelmed by all the bad in the world that they can’t fix.

[...]

If they are not careful, Mediators can lose themselves in their quest for good and neglect the day-to-day upkeep that life demands. Mediators often drift into deep thought, enjoying contemplating the hypothetical and the philosophical more than any other personality type. Left unchecked, Mediators may start to lose touch, withdrawing into “hermit mode”, and it can take a great deal of energy from their friends or partner to bring them back to the real world.

Yeah, I've spend most of the past two years in "hermit mode". I'm not as optimistic or idealistic as the test suggests. The dissonance between the world that is and the world that should be has actually made me rather bitter and cynical.

Oooh. Sorry. The world needs swashbucklers.

The last time I did this I got "Advocate" like yourself which I feel is more representative of who I am. But in general I don't feel these tests do a very good job of describing me. I tend to switch between INTJ and INFJ whenever I do the Myers-Briggs.

These are interesting to do but I admit I side-eye people who use these as a genuine way to identify themselves.

"Architect" apparently. Mostly sounds quite accurate, apart from the overtures of brilliance. But then I suppose the write ups for all the personality types are probably quite positively worded.

I'm sorry, but i'm not sure the test is any good.

Like, i have taken these countless times before.
Usually i get Counselor (INFJ) or Architect (INTP), which makes sense.
I suppose the former is more natural to me and the latter happens when the situation warrants to bloody get over oneself.
I don't get the other 2 IN types, because that's just way too lopsided! Who can live like that?

So, what do i get here?
Operator (they call it Virtuoso), ISTP!
Holy, friggin... i'm so not an operator!

Actually... if i was, my life would suck less. Maybe i'm changing. :)
Or the test sucks.

Pfffft. You probably just did the test wrong. Just do it again and choose different answers until you get the result you want, then you'll see that the test works just fine!

These tests are never accurate. They are a gross oversimplification of the complexity inherent in human personality types. Plus the questions usually force you to pick one of two extremes or just don't give you an answer that represents how you really feel.

Must be the great debating climate, the will for honest discussions without namecalling, and the acceptance of diverging opinions that has brought many of us logicians together here.
