i think it was the.. if you dont give us money to build a church.. chances are you will go to hell.

Anyway, this is a serious derailment!

what about sins.. when is it only a "white" sin, and when is it a full blown sinorama?

The Bible is clear that the love of money is the root of all evil ...

Is that right? I was under the impression that the Bible was clear that the root of all evil is original sin, or in a general sense, man's separation from god. Is that not the case? For instance, Adam and Eve commited the first sin. I don't think the concept of money (or more generally, property) existed at the time they first sinned. Same thing over the first murder--it wasn't about greed or possession, but rather jealousy, or pride.

I do agree with your point in that Jesus did not seem to support the confluence of religion and money, such as the money changers at the temple.

The Bible is clear that the love of money is the root of all evil, so those churches that desire money are obviously evil then. At the Church that I go to, the only tie we give money is part of our offering for the basic running of the Church and also for Missions. the Bible says nothing wrong about giving money to your church for the work of God, but it does say that any attempts to by god's gift by money are false. You do know that running a church does cost money and that most pastors are not well paid and that they Bible says that we should really pay them twice what we do right now, meaning that the work of a pastor is priceless in the Bible. There is a proper use for money in a church, but it has nothing to do with God's gift. By definition a gift is something that you do not pay for, so why would God want payment for a gift?

'The basic money for running the church and for missions..'

I rest my case - Your church is part of the very thing I am denouncing.

'The work of god...'

It is all so easy for the priests that you follow to say that your money
is required, and you happily hand over your dough...Talk about falling for
the lies hook, line and sinker...

Don't know about you, but I have never seen a destitute bishop...

You give your money to greedy men, and they tell you god is happy with you.
Are you really so gullible...I find it hard to believe...You seem a clever type.

Really, why do you need a church anyway?

It should really only be you and your god, and no-one in between.

Whatever you call god, you know what is right and what is wrong. 7-7 on the sins, 7-7 on the virtues too. Guess that means I'm a human.

If girls get named after the virtues (Chastity, Hope, Faith etc) doesnt that logicaly mean boys should be named after the vices. Yup, Im gonna call my lad sloth. At least its guaranteed to be accurate for most of his adolenence...

Can anyone honestly say they haven't committed all seven during their lifetime?
I am honestly not entirely sure about Gluttony :)

I can go better...I don't even recognise the concept of sin.

It is a control device that only applies to those who pray to thin air.

I guess it's also a control device for those who want to be normal :hmm:

If you think kneeling in fear of thin air, and being fleeced by greedy priests as 'normal' - Then good luck to you.

Much of society expects us to respect national laws derived from religious teachings.

Your faith did not invent morality.

The laws of not stealing and killing certainly predate your christian ideas.

Many of our laws are based on a Roman/Greek ethos.

.

Point is, modern man didn't calculate morality either: he inherited moral code from an earlier and more supersticious peoples.

Since I have not gone to confession to repent and remove my sins. I am still stuck with the sins of Gluttony, Sloth, Lust, Envy, & Greed.

Just to make a comment, "Non. I am the Incarnate" is considered by me inaccurate. Insted of that, there should have been "No, I have not sinned" as well as "I have sinned in the past, but I repented my sins in a confession or to God".

My point is that christianity did not create morality.

Just admit it, and be done with it.

Christianity did borrowed and modified some moral codes form it's mother religion, Judiaism.

I bet there's some early castrates around that never have been lusty.

Wow, I did three of those sins in the past hour! I'm on the highway to hell.... Or one of the thousands of other punishments after death that are offered by today's religions, but that's not as catchy.
