What to do with our GL?

If we decide to build NU in Kyoto, I'll make sure we get some scientist there.

But I do not think that NU is that very important. I would rather get Universal Suffrage or ToE.

After I studied the map myself, I found that Chieftess maybe counted wrong.

The Great Leader will only need TWO turns to get to Kyoto.

So in any way we dont need a RoP with Russia.

No, I checked with the autogoto. That was from its' starting point. (He can't move anymore this turn).

We only built one wonder - Smith's Trade. Wouldn't we need to build a militaristic AND scientific wonder? (Smith's is commercial)

Id rather havea golden age started by our UU, so our wartime economy with the onset of panzers can cripple the competition.

I've been studying the map more, and with the Russian/Iroquois war, that means our GL will be moving through a heavy traffic area. We'd have to move some of our units (rifles, cavalary) to create a clear passage.

I still think NU would be a waste of our time. Universal Suffarage is just one tech away and the ToE is just four. Unless we plan on switching to democracy and beefing up our research NU would be almost useless now.... We've been trading for techs this entire time. Let's continue to do it for alittle while longer. When we hit the modern age's we should beef up our research. Not right now.

With that said I would much rather have 2 FREE techs then a higher research rate.

Also we don't have to rush the ToE in a certain city. If there is a bordor city that badly needs culture we could rush it there. Or do anything else we like with it.

From Nagasaki -

1HP cav to 4 S then 1 NW of Kyoto (or 1 north of Iro) city 'x')
4/4 Cav to 1 W of the 1HP cav's posistion
Kyoto pike and rifle will be on the tiles NE of the 1HP cav
3HP rifle in Kago to 1 W of "City X"
rifle S of Kago goes into the city to defend.
Sword could go 1 SE of the Russian Pike while the Elite sword in Nagasaki takes the origanal sword's place.

Once our leader starts going through on turn 1, start sending our troops back to their cities.

Building Newton's will NOT get us a GA for this simple reason: We have yet to build a militaristic wonder.

(remember, we still have to vote on palace, army, waiting for ToE in the polls)

The NU is useless to use.... It only double's the research output in the city it is built in.... We are trading for all of our techs... Even when we do happen to beef up our science research it will have little effect on our research rate... It is just one city out of the 50 we have.

Also I see no reason and why we should not let greece get the wonder. If I'm thinking right Greece is not even close to us. We have nothing to fear from them. This improvement will help the greeks out in the tech race. Making them a more valueable tech trading partner to us. Remember.... right now the faster the AI researchs and faster we can buy them for them.

If anything we should get the US(universal suffarage). That would help DZ in his attempt to convince people to change to democracy :).

I beleve that this Plan will work out :D. Chieftess's plan would defenatly gain the approval of the Military Leader :D. Though I would have to wait for the poll :).

Strider, I could make the same argument that the Universal Suffrage is useless. We have not been at total peace at all this game - except for the start and just after the Aztec wars. Did you see the math donsig made? It shows that Democracy really wouldn't benefit us. Not to mention the war wariness when we're locked in a war for 20 turns. Kyoto is our richest city (It gets the most income, and it doesn't even have a bank yet!), so it's the perfect place for Newton's University when we DO need it.

CT.... Note the DZ comment.... I was joking about universal suffrage :)

Speaking of whom......

You know which Wonder I want.

Consider this, the Greeks are building NU and Universal Suffrage right now. If we take Newton's away from them, we will most certainly lose a chance at Universal Suffrage(US), as the Greeks would certainly switch it to Athens.

With US, my hairbrained schemes of Democracy become more attainable and would one day give a us chance at the driver's seat at Great Wonders instead of wondering what we are going to do with these opportunities.

And it is only two techs away, one which may be attainable soon. Some investment in these techs on our part could secure a grand future. Let's not rush Horsa into something just because he's there. Let's take our time on this one.

We can still dominate civs under Democracy, especially with US. And Democracy would give us more victory options should we fall short on our domination goals. What if we are almost there and someone builds a spaceship because we are that far behind in techs. Could happen.......

I agree with DZ here. We can easily lose this game to the other great democracy's of the world. NU is not as important as US! I will not stop advocating for democracy until the queen cuts of my head(Which may end up happening;)). Seriously though, we cant expect to keep up with countries like Persia or France as a Democracy! The game is within our grasp, and this GL is a great oppurtunity to build US. Lets take hold of this oppurtunity and vote to build US. Do your duty Fanatikans! Do your duty...

I believe we should use the GL to rush Universal Suffrage. Beyone giving us the benefits of this wonder, it will also stop the cascade to ToE, giving us a better shot at building it.

We don't even have steam power yet! Do we really want to hang on to Horsa on the odd chance that we will get industrialization before Greece builds universal suffrage? We're pretty much broke and spending our gold as fast as we earn it. Slim chance of buy techs that way. We don't seem to want to put the screws to Hammurabi in order to get steam power for peace. You all need to come up with a plan or else we'll end up saving Horsa for naught.

Unless we're willing to keep our gun pointed at Hammurabi's head until he gives us steam power and stop spending gold to save up to buy industrialization from someone, I don't see us getting universal suffrage.

I would much rather use the GL immeadiately, rather than fortify him somewhere. Remember, while he is still active, we can not recieve another.

This is my reasoning for Newton's University. Sure, we will not be able to use it to it's entire benefit. However, waiting for Universal Suffrage only reduces the chance of another Great Leader.

Use him now to build something, preferably Newton U.
