Are you following anything at the moment?

Any recommendations for Christmas holidays?

I watched this one -
Carnivale
-
several years ago and thought it to be very captivating. Haven't heard much praise for it, but might be worth a look if you finished all else.

Edit: No spoilers, please.

That's from 2005? It looks good.

For some reason it reminded me of Elmer Gantry.

But, yeah, it's hopelessly dated.

And not a series.

I'll get to season 3 in some time. Liked the earlier seasons, probably more as a TV-show than as books. The pacing in TV was better, imo.

I watched GoT season 1 on DVD. It was OK. But it didn't encourage me to go out and get season 2. Does it get better? Too much gratuitous nudity for my taste. I mean, I don't mind a bit. But not so much as to put me off my tea and toasted muffins.

Mind you, I think I'd read the next volume first before I lash out any hard cash.

I think it was pretty much the same for season 2, not better. If the latest South Park episode is accurate, there won't be less gratuitous nudity in season 3.

No, I meant...

Was the overall content better in Season 2? I'd forgive it the gratuitous nudity if it was otherwise very worthwhile watching.

I was quite taken with Season 1. Just not enough for me to go on. Nor enough to have bothered watching the thing again. (Not a good sign, imo.)

No. I meant - it was of about the same quality - both seasons, imo. Second wasn't better anyway. If you didn't enjoy the first, you won't enjoy the second.

Was following Breaking Bad. Also watching Game of Thrones, the Walking Dead, and Homeland. I watch Colbert and Stewart regularly too. That's the only tv I watch and I watch it all on the internet.

OK. Thanks. That's useful.

It's a shame. I wanted to like it more than I did.

I only regularly follow Stewart and Colbert. I've also been rewatching some Batman ("The Animated Series" from the 90s).

This is the British version. It is very violent and graphic, but it is a brilliant show. We only have got season one so far here in Australia.

One problem I have is the sex in the program. I just doesn't really go well with the flow of the show and seems to be added in just for the sake of it.

The second season of GoT had probably the most offensively misogynistic scene I've ever seen on a TV show.

I'm watching Top Gear. Which is freaking awesome.

Children's Hospital was pretty funny.

If we are talking miniseries, then I'm rewatching From the Earth to the Moon soon. It's an awesome docudrama on the American space program and receives the highest recommendation I can give.

Homeland
GoT
Good wife
Boardwalk empire
Elementary

Carnivale from the past was great,

GoT, The Waking Dead, Grey's Anatomy, Gilmore Girls, Teen Wolf.

It may be a touch dated, but I think Father Ted, an ethnography of rural Ireland and the travails of its spiritual leaders, remains as truthful and as relevant as when it was initially released. Well worth examining.

Twin Peaks is quite good as well.
