Am I the only one who hopes that Zulu won't be in the expansion, and will be added later, as a DLC?
They are certainly popular enough for a DLC, along with Portugal
I also very much hope for a revised Sumer/Hittite DLC pack, in which they are released as full civs (as Firaxis probably planned to do that originally)
IMO Tibet and Israel are also much better suited for later DLCs, because of the political controversy connected to them

the Anasazi who are basically the heroes of the H.G. Well's classic "Brave New World" in a dystopian world controlled by a world government/congress)

You mean Huxley?
Or Wells also has a similar work?

They really should add South-American Native civ instead of North-American. Mapuche over Sioux any day. Also Ashanti over Zulu, but they can of course both be in. I also feel Serbia or Hungary would be much better than Belgium, but well see.

When people talk about Eurocentric they really are talking about West-Europe centric or Anglo-Saxon centric. West-Europe is over represented compared to Eastern-Europe. This showed also in the case of Sweden. Most people dont seem to realise how important Swedish Vikings were for the Eastern-European history.

Im hopeful that they add civs that were important, but average Westerner doesnt necessarily know.

Zululand?Why?The Bantu will be better?

Wells has a similar work, but you right - I meant Huxley. I watched Time Machine a few days ago so his name was no my mind and switched their names.

I really would like to see the Zulu in the expansion... but this is a good point: The appeal of selling follow-on DLCs. Zulu as a DLC would be hugely popular. The expansion could be sold on the merits of the new features. The collection of 9 new Civs is a good advertising number, but they could all be Civs that may not be so popular as a DLC.

oi... marketing :]

I don't want the Zulu - I'd rather see the Swahili, Malagasy, or Zimbabwe - but I think that they're the most likely option.

If the Zulu aren't in, there will be a Zulu substitute.

Alright, eight left.

I'm gonna guess:

  • Portugal
  • Zulu/South Africa
  • Brazil
  • Indonesia
  • Israel
  • Native American civ (since I don't have to be specific, but I'm betting it will be one with a diplomacy or economic focus like you could do with the Sioux or the Hopi)
  • Kongo
  • Dark horse: Harrapan (I want them, darn it! They're interesting!)

Well, the reason I doubt Tibet is that - unfortunately - China bans anything that so much as mentions an independent Tibet.

So...Lhasa being an independent city state has already gotten the game banned?

Can't help but agree.

Mao Zedong was also switched with a different leader in civ 4 in China.

My biggest surprise is that no one thinks the Mali will make it in. I don't know enough to have voted for them myself, but, as of this post, the Mali, who were in Civ 4, have 0 votes for being present this time around. That's a bit of a surprise, though I imagine many probably see it as we already have the Songhai. Mansa Musa, looks like you're getting no love in CiV...

Aaannnnd now there's 14 votes for Mali. I always have to open my big mouth...

Well, part of the problem with Mali is that many of the major cities overlap with the Songhai...

I think the front-runners are definitely most likely, no doubt.....Portugal, Zulu, Indonesia, Native American civ, Kongo, and Brazil

Those sound pretty solid, the rest are toss up iffys

I recall reading something about Lhasa being replaced with another CS in the Chinese version

I wonder if we will ever know which city-state replaced Lhasa, considering how hard was for them to find religious city-states in G&K .

Not sure on that - but other religious city-states would not be tough to get:
Zoroastrianism has a nice collection of cities with a "Fire Temple" that could be used, that are not part of the Persian city list atm. Starting with Udvada
