What will happen if I transport beer warm?

I'm going back to college soon, and want to bring back the beer I have left over from winter break. I'll probably get a car ride, so it'll take around 45 minutes. By the time I get there, the beer won't be room temperature, but it probably won't be very cold either. If I re-refrigerate it after arriving, will it be ruined?

Uh...is this seriosuly a question? no it will be fine...

newcastle is drinkable warm.

Mmm Newcastle.

My friend and I were stuck somewhere in Virginia for 2 days and went to a fancy looking restaurant to get dinner one of those days.. This was just after we had hit a deer and so naturally, I wanted steak and beer.

So I asked what was on tap.. The waitress listed several things that I do not consider beer (Bud, Coors Light), then a couple beers I have never heard of, and finally, Newcastle.

I've never had it, but I knew it was English, and rather dark, so I went with that..

and man oh man, that was the best steak I ever had.

NEVER NEVER NEVER!!!!! let your beer go skunk. It's a crime.

(skunk beer is when you let the beer go warm, then cold again)

Them be fighting words. I'm drinking Budlight right now.

Good liqueur stores don't let beer go skunk. The Beer in shipped in cold trunks.

Places like 7-11 always taste like they let the beer go skunked.

Actually, skunking occurs when you let sunlight hit the beer, an understandable mistake, since when you let beers warm up it's usually because of sunlight,

;) its true though, Budweiser skunky or not is still an inferior beer. i can understand why people drink bud but when you get out of the military and move to a city, you should upgrade your choice in beer to something less crappy tasting.

All beer has been hot and cold in it's time. Every single one. It makes no difference whatsoever. Beer does go off eventially, and it is probable that sunlight and bad storage temps would hasten that process, but in the short term it's not going to matter.

Go into a posh off-licence and they still only have some of the beers in the fridge. You can watch them filling the fridge, with room-temp beer. Sometimes when you go to take a beer from the fridge and they have just filled it, you have to dig back to the back of the shelf to find a decently cold one.

What does sunlight do to beer?

I guess we use the slang differently. is there a wiki on skunking lol?

Lightstruck beer
Lightstruck, or skunked, beer has been exposed to ultraviolet and visible light. The light causes riboflavin to react with and breakdown isohumulones, a molecule that contributes to the bitterness of the beer and is derived from the hops. The resulting molecule, 3-methylbut-2-ene-1-thiol, is very similar to a skunk's natural defenses.[3]

In some cases, such as Miller High Life, a hop extract that does not have isohumulones is used to bitter the beer so it cannot be "lightstruck". Bottles with dark glass give some protection to the beer.[4]

That's all I can find on wiki.

Probably some kind of chemical process, as I understand it it has to do with the tint on the beer bottles, some let the sun in, others don't.

I figured skunking is what it's name implies, when the beer has a skunk like smell (though I've never smelled a skunk).
