What will your first game look like?

Civ: Don't know yet, probably China so I can build the Great Wall, or Germany so I can get a feel for districts.

Map Size: Huge (always)

Map Type: Continents. I like having a bit of an age of exploration, and in the mid-late game you meet a whole bunch of civs who have already got their own diplomatic relations with each other, but are total blank slates to me and vice versa.

Difficulty: King. I'll dial it back to Prince if the barbarians kick my ass.

My first game will be America on a continents map. I will try for a Cultural Victory.

I am going to try an opening gambit that I have envisioned. I will conquer several neighboring city-states right off the bat in the Ancient Era. I figure the pros outweigh the cons here.

Pros: no warmonger hate in the Ancient Era
Get several cities without ramping up the Settler production cost, allowing me to put out a few extra cities quickly later
Producing settlers costs population, so no population drop right away
Adds population to the science and culture equations
Afterwards, I will have an army primed with a few promotions to defend my new territory
Deny city-state bonuses and units to rivals

Cons:
Lose city-state bonuses for myself
Lose early trading partner
Piss off Tomyris, Frederick, and probably Pericles
Other civs have a Casus Belli agains tax you
Forego infrastructure to build early army

Civ: Norway

Map Size: Standard or Small

Map Type: Fractal. I like the extra unpredictability of the map over Continents.

Difficulty: Prince, but if it turns out I don't understand jack about the new mechanics and such, I'll reverse to Warlord or even Chieftain.

I see where you're coming from but I don't know enough about CS-combat by now. Is it the same as in CiV when at a certain point they all turn against you? I'd feel bad about that...
Also I would like that threat by the Human Player to get adressed by the devs with CS have a good army and counterattack-abilities or at least a decent defense. With that in mind Fredericks bonus would be better, too. The CS combat bonus is the least favourite thing for me when it comes to Germany...

It's an experiment. I will report back if successful. Anyway, you can take a few city-states in V before they all get angry with you. You should at least be able to take out 2 in VI, I think.

Also, Frederick's advantage is nice for my gambit. But Teddy's continent combat bonus should be helpful in this regard as well.

I'll probably play on settler mode (whatever the easiest mode is) and conquer the known universe like I did with my first Civ 5 game.

Didn't even have to look at a city screen.

Game 1
China / Cultural Victory / Continents

Game 2
Scythia / Religious Victory (Agressive) / Pangea

Game 3
Norway / Domination / Small Continents (or similar)

Game 4
Japan / Science / ?

Game 5
India / Religious (Peaceful) / ?

I will start on Prince. I don't think I'll play more than one game on Prince, but we'll see.

Pre-ordered the Digital Deluxe package today!

My first game is going to be a Culture - Religion - Military game with America. Gonna progress from Chiefdom -> Autocracy -> Theocracy -> Fascism.

Looking forward to the challenge of waging war in Civ 6. Probably going to have a core of cities that specialize in different areas like science, gold output, but conquered territories all focusing on culture, religion, and military.

I will probably play China my first go thru. China seems to have the bonuses and unique items that are most forgiving of not understanding what you are doing, and blundering through.

I won't be thinking of a victory type in advance, instead, trying to play the map and see what comes out somewhat naturally.

I'll be playing on continents on the largest map size because that's what I liked in Civ V, and probably whatever the middle speed turns out to be called.

All in all, like many, I'll probably wind up trying to play akin to how I played Civ V my first game, which will mean I make a boatload of unforced errors.

I plan something similar as America on Prince, mostly because their advantage seems pretty straightforward to use. Basically I will war early, either vs. city states or another civ on my continent. Hopefully claim the whole continent to myself and then turtle through to a science or culture win. I'm hoping this will help me learn both how tactical combat works in the game, as well as get a chance to see the entire science and culture trees in action throughout the whole game. Hopefully this playthrough will give me ideas for what other civs I might find interesting, and bump up to a higher difficulty for that.

Fist round with england. they look perfect to learn the game.

after that probably spain or a tech focused civ

Scythia, standard everything on either continents or Pangaea, prince difficulty.

I have to see just how amazing those 2-for-1, self-healing horse archers really are! :c5war:

Plan is to run over nearby AI's and have more land and cities than I will know what to do with... seriously, once I'm done spamming units and mindlessly running over cities I suppose I'll start learning the other mechanics of the game. ;)

I will impulsively pick a civ, probably standard settings for most everything, and pick one of the lower difficulties. Same thing I've done with every new civ game and expansion pack.

At this stage we're not even sure there is a deity level.

Personally I'll probably play at whatever level is equivalent to prince or maybe one lower just to get a feel for the mechanics.

I'm a newb to the Civ PC experience. Played Civ Rev on 360 and super stoked for this game to drop.

I hate starting at the easiest level in any game, but I will probably make an exception in this game. I've watched a lot of Civ 5 vids from Quill, so I have an understanding of what to expect.

Might start as England and see where it goes from there.

Standard difficulty (Prince/King), Standard size continents map, very basic settings. I want to roll my first game in as 'normal' a layout as possible before customizing, which will mostly entail scaling up the difficulty and map size. I was initially leaning toward a lower difficulty for my first game, but this iteration of Civ seems more similar to old games than past iterations. We'll see how I do.

I'll probably be playing as Greece, since they get a strong, flexible set of bonuses that last the whole game through. Pretty excited to cluster everything around my beautiful acropolis... That said, I'm still looking forward to the new reveals, all of which are really intriguing. Aztecs is another one I'm eager to try, I love my early aggression.

Civilization: China (unless I like Sumer better)
Map: Real Earth if available, otherwise Continents
Difficulty: Chieftain
Victory: Probably culture
Size: Huge
Speed: Epic
Size: the biggest they offer

Civilization: 'Merica
Map: either continents or possibly an Earth map
Difficulty: Warlord (or one below Prince- average). If I want the chieftan achievement I'll do it at another time with quick settings
Victory: Space victory of course, just like my first civ2 game
Size: Standard
Speed: Normal

Things like sea level will be normal with normal vegetation options.
