I am on a continent with 3 others. Ramsess, Ragnar, and Gilgimish (who I share a border with) ragnar and ramsess are to the north of gilgimish.

Is it best to have gilgimish my religion (we share a border), and the other 2 different religions so they fight amongst themselves? (gilgimish+me= confucinism, ragnar=judiasm, ramsess=hinduism)

OR

Have gilgimish and raganar my religion and ramsess the different religion so its 3 on 1? (Gilgimish,me,ragnar=confucinism, ramsess=hinduism)

Without a screenshot and knowing level it's hard to say. Plus what AI are you?

Generally all three have their threats.

Ragnar is agressive and plays that way so he is most likely to shake things up. the UU is not that bad unless you are susceptible to amphibious landings.

Gilg is creative and protective, a very hard combo to remove and he will continue to press your borders plus he has the Vulture as a UU.

Ramses is a threat very early with the war chariots but you are probably past that era.

Also depends on AI diplomacy, who hates who.

Myself, I would have taken Gilg out sooner than later getting the Vikings to help. Sounds like it is later though so I would take out your long term rival, Ragnar (agressive gunpowder units are not much fun). Do all you can to get Gilg to declare war on Ragnar also this way you can send troops towards Ragnar but difficult for him to reciprocate.

I am playing prince level, BTS.

I am playing alexander. I spent the early years taking out shaka, which was a pretty big phalanx rush and took me most of th BCs. Therefore I wasnt really feeling like rushing gilg after that since it is around 1 AD right now.

Ah, good job taking out the Zulu! You probably need to rebuild the economy a bit so I would befriend Gilg AMAP, then backstab him at your earliest convienince while the otehr two ar eat each others throats.

Wow.. all 3 of those are strong leaders!! I agree with other that Ragnar should not be left alone because he's aggressive and financial so he tends to remain on par in tech unlike other aggressive leaders - you don't want a war with a technologically advanced Ragnar later on. Gilgamesh is your closest neighbour and backstabber so I think you should hit him first with Ramesses's help. Ramesses is from my experience a good guy and you should cultivate him as a friend and ally (just don't let him get out of control like win a cultural victory) and destroy the other 2 starting from Gilgamesh.

You have to see the other opponent's relations to see what you can do. If you want to expand, I prefer to have diplomatically isolated neighbors and friendly but distant allies. If you want to minimize the fighting for yourself, dogpile ragnar.
