Since Capitol Punishment was reintroduced in the US, most states have been attempting to execute the condemned in the most humane way possible.

To me, this means what is easiest to watch. Watching someone be put to sleep via lethal injection is easy. They're paralyzed so you really can't tell if there's any pain, suffering blah blah blah... of course it can go wrong showing us how painful it might just be.

So of all the common execution methods, which way would you want to go?

I happen to believe a bullet to base of your skull would be the most humane. You're dead before someone on the other side of the room hears the shot. But this is too bloody and violent and thus isn't done.

edit: and I don't care if you don't believe in capital punishment. I don't either. That's not what this thread is about.

Kill them, rape them, and sow their flesh to a lamp shade. And if they're lucky it will be in that order.

In all honesty, I don't really know if there exists a humane way, but I would have to think that lethal injection is still the most efficient and least gruesome.

Although, I heard the Florida and California have suspended executions now.

Here's a list of other methods of execution:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_methods_of_capital_punishment

Asphyxiation (or strangulation), such as by Garrotte
Blood eagle (possibly a myth)
Boiling to death
Burning, especially for religious heretics and witches on the stake
Brazen bull
Breaking on the Wheel
Burial (alive, also known as the pit)
Crucifixion
Crushing by a weight, abruptly or as a slow ordeal - see also animals
Decapitation, or beheading (as by sword, axe or guillotine)
Disembowelment
Dismemberment
Drawing and quartering (Considered by many to be the most cruel of punishments)
Drowning
Electrocution
Explosives
Flaying (skinning)
Garrote
Gassing
Hanging
Impalement
Lethal injection
Iron Maiden
Keelhauling (not always lethal) and walking the plank (if not fictitious)
People shredder
Poisoning
Running the gauntlet
Sawing
Scaphism and similar methods mentioned there
Shooting can be performed either
* by Firing squad
* by a single shooter (such as the neck shot, often performed on a kneeling prisoner, as in the PR China)
* (especially collectively) by cannon or machine gun
Starvation and Dehydration (sometimes as immurement)
Stoning
Various animal-related methods
* Tearing apart by horses, e.g. Ancient China (using five horses) or "quartering," with four horses, as in The Song of Roland
* Attack/devouring by animals, such as dogs or wolves, as in Ancient Rome and the Biblical lion's den; by rodents (such as rats); by carnivorous fish (such as piranhas or sharks); by crabs or by insects (such as ants)
* Poisonous stings from scorpions and bites by snakes, spiders, etc.
* Crushing by elephant or trampling by a herd or by horsemen, as practiced by the Mongolian hordes
* Snake pit

I think explosives sounds most interesting on that list.

I think we should nuke criminals.

Instant vaporization has got to be very humane. All we have to do is label them "enemy combatants" and then it's internationally legitimate to nuke them! It's the perfect workaround to those pesky test-ban treaties.

gunshot through the cerebral cortex and the cerebellum, the bigger the better. or heck, make it 2 just to make sure.

always 2 to the head.[/Millers Crossing]

ps.i belive he asked for the most humane, not the most imaginative.

Arghbarble

I personally don't care what in the most humane way to kill murderers, especially mass murderers. I believe they should be killed in a way that is proportionate to the amount of suffering they inflicted on their victims. This is more "humane" for society and has a better deterrent effect.

ooh, nuke idea should be fun. But seriously, the least painful way. Either that or tie myself to a post on top of a building, stretch piano wire across the edge, put superglue on my hands, put my neck over the piano wire, and grab my face with my hands till they stick, then jump. Interesting to see the reactions of people staring at a guy holding his head, while decapitated and hanging down from a building

Your right about California. We suspended the death penalty because we couldn't get any doctors to do our lethal injections (hypocratic oath and all) and the aids we got to fill in we're stabbing people 4 or 5 times trying to get a vein.

Some felt this was cruel.

Gilllotene will kill you before your brain has time to realise you're in pain. Much more humane than electrocution or chemical death or a firing squad, which may take a while because not everyone is that accurate. execution is a pointlessly barbaric way of dealing with people, but then that's not the issue.:mischief:

Death by mao mao is the best method of execution.:)

Proportionnate to the amount of suffering...I don't think this is realistically enforcable, but it is certainly questionnable.
