Societies is dead to me!

Yeah Societies isn't SimCity. One of my friends is a SimCity fan and he was turned off the minute he heard that SimCity Societies had no zoning.

The genius himself is unfortunately stuck with bigger and more popular things. *sigh*

Sim City 2000 was the first PC game I ever bought (it was almost Zool), and I loved it to bits. I had no idea what I was doing, and everything seemed to collapse into derelict buildings, but I loved it.

Sim City 4 comes close. I actually managed to properly play that one in the end.

I've only tried SC2000 and liked it.

One thing that bugged me was that I couldn't get public communication to work. If I tried to isolate industrial and residental zones most of the area would be unpopulated.

Sim Soceities was a mockery of all that is Simish!

I tried SimCity Societies. It was okay, but only worth the $8 I paid for it (or maybe $10), not $40 like the big box stores wanted.

That's a difficult question. 2000 and 4 are in close contention. 3000 is a good game, but not quite up to its successor and predecessor.

I would go with 4 for all its complexity and depth, even if the region system is a pain in the ass to deal with and it is a system hog.

Societies was an abomination. Sim City Classic was fun, but given the other ones, I wouldn't be likely to play it. Sim City 2000 was one of my first ever games, and I had a world of fun with it. Sim City 3000 had the best music of the series, was probably the hardest, and extremely fun- it had the best advisors as well. Sim City 4 was eye-candy and fun to play- right now, I play Sim City 4 along with all of the downloaded music from Sim City 3000 (you can get it off the Sim City website).

However, right now, I think the future of the City Builder Genre is in the City Life/Cities XL series from Monte Cristo.

I think Societies is ok -- it's kinda fun to pick and place the buildings and try to balance everything.

sim city 4 + rush hour for me

sim city 2000 a close second as i liked to flood my cities, mwahahahahaha!

SimCity 2000 is a better game than SC4 + RH. But SC4 is better for sculpting elaborate cities and stuff.

SC2k, 3k, and 4 have some of the best music. Anyone else get SC2k songs stuck in their head?

Actually, I didn't... but listening to the soundtrack brings back fond memories. I still think, however that nothing quite outdoes Sim Broadway.

SC4...OMG being able to put my SIMS 1 people in it was the best...
