Well IQ tests only test how good you are at doing IQ tests but I usually score from 155 to low 160s.

I'll do that test that is mentioned and see what I get.

OK, I got 158 on that test...not bad considering it's first thing in the morning and I still have cobwebs. I was afraid I'd get 75 or something.

All it would tell me for analysis is Pattern Recognition: 100%. I'm certainly not paying $10 to know more.

If all the people here really have the IQ they say they have CFC seems to populate a significant portion of the world's high IQ population.
I'm not a great believer in IQ tests. They test very little of the real abilities of a person, and they're often built in a way that prevents them from getting accurate results even in the fields they are trying to test.

And it wouldn't surprise me one bit if CivForums did have a higher IQ average than normal.

I can accept a higher IQ average than normal when it's say 110-120. Not when the average is 150 This is pretty silly.

I was tested at age 12 and they wouldn't tell me the result. My parents were ambiguous. Next week I received an invitation to join Mensa, which I guessed must either be a conspiracy of evil geniuses or a den of goatee stroking pipe smokers. I also refused the gifted programme, being fantastically stuck-up myself and resentful of any distraction from the bliss of freely ploughing through the school library.

None of that means I've ever been a smart person.

The internet will score you 20-25 points higher than it really is...

Interesting side note, I was turned down for enrollment in the police academy because my IQ was too high. They told me it was because I would be bored with the mundane routine of a police officer... True story.

I got 134 in the test given, and I'm not even a native english speaker...

For Internet IQ test in french, I always hit between 140 and 160.

Mind you, a score of 140 si considered close to genius, a score of 150 is genius.
I'm proud enough to say that I'm intelligent, but not so full of myself as to say I'm a genius.

And please, look at the numbers : NO ONE is "average".
And we've 7 people that are above 160. Let's be serious please. Internet tests are here to make people feel intelligent, and then buy the "complete and detailed test, only 10 $ !".

Internet IQ test are worthless. they typically score more 20 to 40 points high (look at the above range in the poll, more than 40 points above average.)

As for me, I'm either an idiot or a genius, but even my own mother can't work out which it is.

I agree with Lefty, those figures are massaged to suit people's egos. The best way to gauge them is to work out how many people take the test and see what percentile you are in.

I think in a 'real' IQ test I'd be getting a score of around 140, not around 160.

I took one Internet test that gave me a 162 score - took it at 2am in the morning after having drunk about 10 bottles of beer and smoking a big fat spliff (that's about the state of mind you need me to be in if you want me to take an IQ test). And it wasn't even in my native language. Maybe that means I'm a genius, but more likely, it means there was something seriously wrong with the test .

then i did it all this time and got 95
