Tabs, or separate windows?

I used to use separate windows until I discovered the joy of tabs.

IE7 has tabs too. Saying that, I use Firefox and prefer tabs. Occaisionally I'll use two windows, one that is mine and a second window that my wife uses for hers.


Funny thing, ever since I upgraded to vista, IE7 quit working. It keeps 'Not Responding', so now my wife has switched to Firefox.

Tabs all the way. I hate seeing the taskbar cluttered, especially when there's only place for 6 applications. I usually have several programs running at the same time as Firefox, so tabs really are the only way to keep them together.

Separate windows, and lots of them. The reason is, sometimes there is a need to switch between 3+ separate windows, one of which is not a browser. In such cases, windows are much easier to use.

It's easier to display multiple windows on the screen at once than multiple tabs.

That said, I use tabs. Taskbar would get too cluttered without them. Occasionally I'll have one Firefox window up alongside my main Opera window, but only for things Opera doesn't do so great at.
