Where are the animals?

It's not a huge issue since I play with the resource markers turned on, but I'm still curious: in my game everything works perfectly except that I can't see the animals (cows, horses, pigs etc), only their shadows. Any idea what's causing this? Is it a bug? If so, is it on someone's radar to be fixed?

I had the same problem. Someone told me to turn off the animations and you can see the animals, but they aren't moving.
