North Europe, then, you can be clumped together with the British Isles!
Wow! You really must love the Scandi countries. Whatever have we done to deserve it? :crazyeye:

Actually I'd say Sweden is the place that most resembles England. Similar history of being the Big Dog surrounded by smaller ones. Only the Swedish Empire was a lot smaller and more short lived. Otherwise there are similarities as far as the sense of humour (ironic, understated, self depreciating), a tendency to talk down to people etc. I've been told by Australians that Swedes are remarkably similar to Englishmen. (Probably not a compliment.):p
Maybe Denmark takes the place of Scotland? The main contender for centuries (in Scandinavia actually the original Big Dog).
Finland would be Wales. Hard drinking, hard fighting, hard life in general. The backbone of the Swedish army for centuries.
That leaves the poor Norwegians as the Welsh? Not a perfect fit... But hm, well, they are pretty religious in both places. :mischief:

I'm from Wallonia, the french-speaking region-state covering southern half of Belgium. I live in Gembloux, a small town 15km north from the capital city, Namur.

Verbose, Denmark was the local great power in the Viking times (Though we were not unified) In the Middleage we conquered Gotland and even Stockholm for a short while, on the other hand you could never take Copenhagen, then we even unified Scandinavia in the Kalmar Union under Danish leadership. In the beginning of the Renaissance we also pretty much pushed you around as we wished, but a couple of awful Danish Kings finally made it possible for Sweden to gain the upper hand. So I'd say we're pretty much even, though unfortunally you came out on top in the end.

Btw, I don't mind being thrown into the Scandinavian jar. It's easier that way, and for anyone but Scandinavia it's the same thing anyway.

Rio de Janeiro the city, Rio de Janeiro the state, Brasil the country.

The great state of South Dakota! :)

Oslo, Norway. Originally from Tromsø, Norway.

It appears scandinavians are the second biggest group here :hmm:

Sweden, but going from there to France and back a lot. Working on my roots... familiy kind of thingie.:)

Right, either everyone gets to state their nationality of we all report according to region.
Scandinavians don't much like being lumped together. Doesn't sit well after centuries of glorious massacre, followed by the last 300 years of petty bickering.
Heck! It's not even 200 years since last we beat up the Norwegians! :D

I'm Swedish, as most of you probably know by now.
