If anyone knew that it would be very helpful... I am currently working on a essay/document on the expension of the EU, and I would like to make comparisons between the GNP/head levels of member countries and candidates countries both for previous enlargements (1973,1981,1986,1995) and for the planned ones (2004 & 2007).
I looked on the World Bank website, but the free statistics only go back to a few years.
Any help would be welcome :)

aren't there any books about it in the library?

Since I'm doing CS studies, our library is not very good for this sort of things ;) I tried searching on the web, to no avail.
I would not be asking it here if I had found that elsewhere... Statistic such as these going back 40 years are pretty hard to find.

You may be able to find some of that data in the Penn World Tables - can't give you a URL atm but those keywords should be enough for another internet search. I believe the PWT goes back to the late 50s, though not all the data is there and for some of the prospective entrants, it's none too reliable.

thanks, rmsharpe :goodjob: I was really too lazy to look up the precise URL.

I think the IMF should have some data as well, although I don't know if their International Financial Statistics are available online.
