[Pir] Where is this lost city / Montalbans Hideout?

Unfortunately I am not near Campeche right now.

But I have the gut feeling that both spots are more on the right side of the Yucatan peninsula, above "Mad Dicks's Bones".

Attention: Rename this savegame to slot 10 perhaps, it is my slot1 savegame.

I finally did it:

This is how Montalbans Fortress looks like. It is guarded by Indians, but all are melee fighters (hint).

Maps near Campeche give me the shivers in me timbers. good searching for all. As you found out, the trick is to widen the search area down the east coast.

Ive had an imposible map (which I gave up on) where i was searching for two geysers in a row. where i was searching had many many geysers. i spent hours looking.

if you got all those maps in one game; you have my sympathy.

They were really a pain, all others map were by far easier, especially those "East" or NE of Gran Granada - you either get a lake or a shoreline.

I will do some research in my next game:

Are map spots distributed right from the start of the game or are the cities/treasures placed AFTER you get the map e.g.

I also have a theory that in the Campeche area you can make sure you are in the right area if the landmark features get denser - even if your treasure/city is not directly in a tight spot, it should be at least around.

Great theory, i will try that!

Hi

First off, i'm new to this forum. I'm a long time civ player who has made the transition to Pirates..
I'm currently in my first Pirates game and it has been a lot of fun. I'm almost done with most of the quests and would like to retire and start a new game.
I ran into one small problem though...

I Got a lost city map in the Campeche area and now i have been searching for a couple of hours..

There is an area with denser landmark features between the jesuit mission and the dutch settlement. I have searced that area multiple times and I also ran up and down the coastline of the entire peninsula looking for landmarks. I have walked southeast from Campeche twice but still no sign of the lost city.
Perhaps one of you more experienced players can look at the map and tell what i am doing wrong?

Thanks

Hi colpi, unfortunately i have not installed pirates on my lap right now, but I recommend searching BELOW Bruxelles and VERY close to the jesuit mission!

Plus a hint: Walk down south with the numpad keys, and look to the right with the scope all the time while walking! This city is so close to the shore that you will see it throught the scope even if there are woods.

The spot is the middle between "Assisi" and "Bruxelles", a bit more towards Assisi. The area where your map ends in the south starts the narrow landbridge where Assisi is on.

Hope this helps.

hmm - i just did a cursory search, and i found both the cabin and the stonehead, btw, half between your "X" and "Assisi", but I did not see the city.

But as searching with my notebook is not really quick, I finally gave up - but I am sure you can find it in that area.

thanks for the effort longasc, it is very much appreciated..

The lay-out of this map looks easy, especially after seeing the harder maps in this thread.. I believe I have found the geyser-cabin combination as well, it's a little bit of the coast but after i go inland I am not able to find the location. Perhaps i get lost in the abundance of landmarks, although i'm aways using the compass.

I'm playing this game on my laptop and searching inland isn't very fast either, but i have walked in that area so many times now i should have found the city by now.. The incan and aztec cities were found at two green obelisks, i guess the mayan landmark also looks like that..

Here is a save of my buccaneers at the cabin. It's north of bruxelles, maybe it's the wrong spot?

The city has been found.

It's a lot more t the south, actually closer to Villa Hermoso, in between the jesuit mission San Evellius and the indian village Iazapa. It's immediately spottable after landing there. Someone over at cutlass isle found it.
Thank you longasc and everyone else who gave it a try.

i cant find the lost city. The landmarks are all wrong and i can´t find the problem

any help would be nice =)

zlesk, can't see you image....

BTW... To answer a question asked years ago. The location are NOT predetermined. They are generated upon getting the quest, and some tend to generate near the last city you've been in(I've noticed pirate treasure is this way, I've even been able to make them generate in the same exact spot as previous treasure).

I've looked at the memory where the map is generated a bit but not that throughly, I wonder if I can teleport player to the treasure/city location hmmm....

Maybe there's some overlap with another map- treasure/lost city/lost relative/ Montalban.. a previous one or just a glitch. It happens sometimes.

See if you can find two landmarks that match the map- a cabin due east of a temple or something... from that point of reference use the compass to guide you.

Or you can try what I do when I have a map fragment and want to find what I'm looking for before I sail to the nearest tavern- climb a hill and use my telescope , go to the next hill and try it again.

I now have the most impossible map to use..see attached

I'm beginning to think it's in florida or something...HELP!
