Which civs would you like to see in the possible next expansion?

What I want hmm...

0. Maori. You want them or not doesn't matter coz leaks show we're getting them.
1. Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth. I want , but we wont get them so chill. poland not popular enough DLC for alt leader/civ.
2. Akkad. Civ 5 had duo babylon+assyria , now Sumer+Akkad should be.
3. South Africa - Mandela one.
4. Ancient Egypt leader.
5. Soviets
6. Italy
7. Byzantium-Ottomans, Including both at once , coz impossible or stupid would be to release one and skip the other. Its a married couple with its problems. They go both or none.
8. Napoleon
9. Prussia
10. Mayans Female leader
11. Carthage with Hannibal or none at all.
12. Hungary or Wallachia with Vlad , or more Ancients Civs pls.
13. Israel , any kind of form.
14. Argentina
666. Germany...the one from 1933 to 1945 :p :mischief::satan:

It‘s probably the most opportune time to finally have Ataturk leading Turkey. Let‘s put away with the awkward convention of the Ottomans being the only civ named after a dynasty.

Italy has been teased by the absence of Italian City States and the project being named Vesuvius, so that would be nice.

The Maori seem also like a good fresh civ with unique properties.

Inca and Maya seem like obvious missing elements as well as one more civ from Africa.

I personally would like to have a Snow Civ as well, be it the Inuit or Finland or I don‘t know.

And now we‘re already at 7 civs, and pretty much all the proposals above seem doable - I‘d add the Chola as a dark horse classical era civ -, so I guess we need another expansion afterwards... :)

(But although debating civs is very interesting, more important to me are enhancements in other areas: UI, AI, Micromanagement :))

Although balanced and improved gameplay and AI is important to me as part of an expansion, I'm most excited to see all of the new civilizations. I always looked forward to seeing the first looks for R&F civs and I can't wait to do it again. I'm probably going to be fine with any new civs, no matter whether they're from ancient or modern times, but I will say that what I do care about the most is having balanced levels of representation from all regions of the world, e.g. it'd just be absurd to not have a single civ from West Africa but then have 8 European civs in the game.

Also, if it were up to me to decide Civ6 updates and releases, we'd have free gameplay improvement updates every so often to clean up what already exists in the game, with new (paid) DLC civs to go alongside said updates. Like what we had before the first expansion was announced. Heck, I'd even support a third expansion, but unfortunately that may not happen in reality. At least with an extra 8 new civs it would give us a better opportunity to include all of the most important returning fan favourites while still having room for fresh newcomers.

The returning civs that I would most like to see:
- Ottomans
- Mali
- Inca
- Maya
- Ethiopia
- Portugal
- Morocco, or alternatively some other North African civ?

The new civs that I would most like to see:
Probably anything, really. Italy, Vietnam, Oman, Maori, other Polynesian, Tlingit or Haida, even Madagascar, are all civs I'd love to see. I'll support any new civ but I do hope that we will at least have balanced representation of regions around the globe.

If you look at the Civ map as it stand atm

There are some big holes that could be filled easily

So I would suggest that it is likely that we will be getting

The Ottomans/The Byzantine
Something from the Niger River Valley (Mali, Songhai etc)
Ethiopia
The Maya and possibly The Inca
Veitnam
Something from the Pacific
Portugal
Another North American First Nation

If I could choose without restrictions probably something like this for starters:
Maya, Inca, Ottomans, Portugal, Mali, Ethiopia, Vietnam, Italy, Israel, Hungary, Iroquois, Babylon and the Maori.

But being a bit more realistic in the sense of at least 2 European, 1 N.American, 1 S.American, 1 African, 1 Middle Eastern and 2 Asian//Oceanic (of which certainly 1 Oceanic after seeing the leaks), including 2 to 4 new civs and 3 female leaders, and making it 8 civs total (plus maybe another second leader for a vanilla civ), things get a little bit harder to pick. So then I hope it'll be:
Portugal (Eur+Female?), Hungary (Eur+New), Maya (N.Am+Female?), Inca (S.Am), Ashanti or Benin (Afr+New+Female?), Ottomans (ME), Vietnam (As+New+Female?), Maori (Oc+New) to get 8 civs and the extra leader for either France, Egypt or China.

Who I think we will get
Portugal, Austria, Maya (or N.Am Native-American Tribe), Inca, New African Civ (or Carthage), Ottomans, Vietnam and the Maori (or since it is an American company they could have picked Hawaii for the Polynesian civ).

5. Ethiopia (Emperor Menelik II)
6. Mali (Mansa Musa)
7. Benin (Idia)

One thing that makes me skeptical about this: all the expansion packs since Civilization IV: Warlords added only one sub-saharan civ, and was never other than Ethiopia or the Zulu. I would love to see this expansion pack breaking this pattern, anyway. Ethiopia would be great, but the lack of representation from Western Africa makes me sad...

At least since Civ IV though we've had representation from West Africa, so it would make since if it was from there this time around.

Turks (why not use a Seljuk leader like Alp Arslan?)
Portugal
Mali/Songhai/Morocco
Inca
Dravidians/South Indians
Vietnam
Assyria (too close to Sumer?)
Carthage

I agree! Though we may not see Mali or Songhai. Ashanti holds my preference, but Nigeria is a very out there choice for that region as well.

What i want:
1. Muisca
2. Maya
3. Inca
4. Ethiopia
5. Mali
6. Ottomans
7. Hungary
8. Navajo or Apache
9. Sweden (but if we need an alt-leader or an Asian civ, skip this one).

What we will probably get:
1. Inca (or Colombia in worst-case scenario)
2. Ottomans (or Turkey in worst-case scenario)
3. Maori / Polynesia
4. Portugal
5. Vietnam
6. Ethiopia
7. Italy
8. Canada
French / English alt-leader

k eff this "8 Civ only" restriction, I'm going to expand my list:

Sorted by location

Anatolia
Want: Hittites (Yes, over all other options, so sue me. They're epic and I really want to see PuduHepa, so to any Firaxite intern reading this post; YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO!!)
Will also accept: Ottomans, Seljuks, Turks
Won't accept: Phrygians, Pontians (too out there in terms of choices, excellent for City State representation though)

Mesopotamia:
Want: Assyrians (It's absolutely puzzling they keep getting snubbed every single game. E - BLEEPING - NOUGH!!)
Will also accept: Akkadians
Won't accept: Babylonians (I'm tired of them, what of it? Let them sit out a round, it's FINE), Palmyrians/Syrians (Gimmick empire, no fanks)

Medieval Europe:
Want: Portuguese (The one glaring omission from Europe.), Byzantines (The Roman Empire Lives On!!!)
Will also accept: Austrians, Bulgarians, Hungarians, Irish, Italians (Incl. Venice, again). Europe has plenty of options/
Won't accept: Aquitaine. Seriously.

Classical Mediterranean:
Want: Carthaginians (notable colonial empire, memorable through the EPIC rivalry with Rome)
Will also accept: Gauls
Won't accept: n/a

Africa:
Want: Ashanti/Beninese (Interesting culture, lots of potential, haven't been added to the franchise yet), Ethiopians
Will also accept: Hausa/Nigerians, Mali, Moroccans
Won't accept: n/a any new Civ from this region is fine for me.

North America
Want: Tlingit (suuuuuch aesthetically pleasing art and clothing.)
Will also accept: Haida, Lakota,
Won't accept: Iroquois (too much overlap with Cree, unless new game mechanics justify their inclusion). Oh and Canadians ofc.

Meso-America
Want: Mayans (better than the Aztecs, one of the few True scientific Civs (rather than phony science civs such as Korea), they look badass. Definitely the Civ I want in the most.)
Will also accept: none
Won't accept: Everything else.

South-America
Want: Incans (obviously)
Will also accept: Muisca (though somewhat begrudgingly)
Won't accept: Colombians, Argentinians, (down with colonial civs) Tupi (Mapuche fills my quotum for "random choice" from that part of the world, thanks)

Far-East Asia:
Want: Burmese (Pirate God Bayinnaung <3)
Will also accept: Malay, Vietnamese
Won't accept: Siamese (they can sit this one out), Tibet (we have enough religious civs)

Oceania:
Want: Maori (looks like my prayers will be answered)
Will also accept: Tongans, Hawaiians
Won't accept: Polynesians (no blob civs, thank you)

Oh and I will also pass at Alt Leaders, while I'm at it. :)

My expectations (playing around with female leaders, trying new civs, trying to matchish rise and fall leader representation) are.
1. Polynesian civ (likely Maori but not jumping the gun yet) male leader
2. Babylon (civ staple, won't feel complete without this guy) male leader
3. Portugal ( big euro power that's missing although I think Europe's packed already) male leader (got any suggestions?)
4. Mayans ( I feel they fit better also have female leader potential) female leader
5. Ottomans ( I think they beat Byzantium this time round :( ) male leader
6. Mali (Khmer got in from civ 4, why not these guys too :) ) male leader
7. Vietnam (new Asian civ, plus the Trưng sisters could be awesome) female leader/s
8. Undecided North american civ, Female Leader
Alt leader for Egypt ( at least make us feel like we have more African civs)

This matches the 3 female rep and a decent world spread but I think there are too many returners ( I want them but we got 4 new civs in rise and fall)
so I think one of these guys (portugal, mayans, ottomans or mali) will be axed for a new civ for their respective region.

These guys aren't my ideal wants ( although some are), I would be really keen for other staples like Ethiopia, Carthage, Byzantium returning, I also really want the Hittites
and Mississippi mound builder civ.

Also hello from a longtime lurker :).

Welcome to forums SumerianMonkey!

Good choices for Portugal could be Joao II or Henry the navigator.

I think your list is quite realistic what we will be getting.
Not sure if North America has that many female leaders though? I know Iroquois has Jagohnsahsnee (spelling)
